I wonder if he would have the nerve to stand up in front of the GM and Delphi workers, who recently got their pink slips, and explain how the economy is soooo strong?

They had to know their time was coming since when the US auto industry started dying in the late 1970's.

Forget Gold

The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index has broken out above strong resistance - machinery related, drillers, specialty chemicals - they are all showing positive momentum.

The NDX at 1703.84 was up 30.81 today. I need to get a shovel and start moving some of this bull manure around - the higher the pile the better the smell.

Conan the Moneyman's (Bernanke) latest effort to bolster the dollar flopped.

Oh, I'm sorry...he wasn't trying to bolster the dollar...he was FIGHTING inflation. Hmmm...since the FED creates inflation, he must be fighting with himself. He better be careful or he could fall on his own sword.

What is he to do now...raise rates again because the economy is soooo strong?

I wonder if he would have the nerve to stand up in front of the GM and Delphi workers, who recently got their pink slips, and explain how the economy is soooo strong?

The real reason for raising rates was because of waning foreign capital inflows. Conan is hoping that everyone buys the noise of the strong economy rhetoric.

Foreign money smells a rat. The dollar is toast.

the GM workers that got the pink slips can thank their union brothers sitting in the GM factory 'job banks' collecting their $35/hr paychecks watching TV and playing dominos...

if Birchtree is correct that fed is done with raising rates, then dollar may also be done rising. 10 yr yield (4.81%)still may be heading up to match the fed rate of possible 5% in may

I wonder if their savings rate matched the national rate...as in negative.

Maybe we will know the answer to that question by watching for a glut of used plasma screen TVs being auctioned off on Ebay.

There are going to be some government employees in for a similar rude awakening and they probably won't see it coming any better than the auto industry folks.

No, they can thank a Big Three (ha, ha) management who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag. I bought a Dodge Intrepid. Never, again. It was "engineered" by accountants. I'm now a Toyota man. Let's encourage foreign investment capital that can actually manage a successful corporation.

Properly managed and compensated American and Canadian workers can produce a world class car at a competitive price. Toyota proves that assertion. However, world class workers need world class management. Why blame the victims of greed and incompetence? Enron, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Adelphi...bad workers, powerful unions...I don't think so! Is $70K a year too much to work in a hot, noisy factory? I bet the recently laid off GM white collar workers wished they had UAW, or, better yet, Teamster union brothers.

And yet, there are still a few of those neanderthal thinkers out there who feel that they must 'Buy American' to remain patriotic. They just don't get it!

Those victims and potential victims of incompetent management have to become better informed. In the future, it won't be enough simply to go to work and fill the time card and expect to survive economically.

People are going to have accept more personal responsibility for their choice of employment, savings, and retirement.

The entitlement mentality is being shown the door.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - This could be the year that Japanese automakers rediscover their roots in the U.S. market.

And that could mean more trouble ahead for U.S. automakers such as General Motors.

Toyota starts to roll out its Yaris subcompact car to dealerships this spring. It will be closely followed by the Honda Fit and Nissan Versa, as all three of the big Japanese automakers begin their first major push in years to sell extra-small, very fuel efficient cars in the United States. The cars generally have base prices between $12,000 and $13,000.

I heard ther is no room in this car to install the I-Pod.

Geez - what did I say wrong - looks like some serious intraday profit taking in the small cap sector - oh well. It's a long day yet. Look at the FTSE and DAX leading the way to the momentum upside. OK honey, you'll be right back?

Did you know they are going to start burning manure to fuel the new ethanol plants that are being built - now how much is that worth? Most farmers and stock yard owners will pay you to haul the gold mine away. Let's be entrepreneurial.

There's a lot of it over at that other site. Plus, the "trading goddess" thinks hers doesn't stink.................
