General Commentary:

Will we get some decent returns during the Christmas season, or a bag of coal? The market has been slowly producing some higher lows, but also some indecisions. So, we are not out of Bearsville by any means. The fourth quarter will likely be much of the same, however we could have a bottom in place to climb out of this pit. Here's hoping for 2009.

A look at the chart(s)
The S&P500 [$SPX] Daily
Large Caps

Charts courtesy of www.StockCharts.com

Pricing was near the 13dma; still indecisions. Resistance ($SPX) is still around 925, and support about 840.

The Bollinger Bands still remain volatile.

The P-SAR registers bullish, closely following the higher lows.

Volume has been somewhat up and down.

The S-STO continues to play around overbought levels.

The MACD was still somewhat bullish and continues a slow advance.

Well, that's it for the weekend!

Be careful out there!

and

Merry Christmas!

Looks like coal is in your stocking Spaf,

Sorry man,

The retail numbers are horrible and now that Toyota will be posting their first annual loss in over 50 years, ouch!

Anyway,
Thanks for the update.

I'm in for the Santa Rally but I think it will be more window dressing for the new year more than anything. The Santa Rally is dead actually, retailers fuel that rally and they are all scared to death. Shopping is way down and you can't tell me otherwise. I see very few people in the stores and malls and the one's I do see are being very selective on what they buy. Looking for the sales, that is what we are doing. And, we are going shopping after Christmas is they have a big reduction in price.

I will wait until after the Super Bowl to look for a TV and if you get a gift card, cash the sucker in before the retailers try to steal it from you. My rule has always been don't give a gift card, give cash.

Once the honeymoon is over look out. The TARP and all of the other programs are just going to patch the problem until the inauguration. This is why Bush buckled on the auto bail out and GMAC. "Please hold it together until Jan. 20" is the motto at the White House right now.
