KevinD's Account Talk

Hello everybody. My name is KevinD and I'm an IFTaholic. View attachment 10128

I have come to the realization that I'm an IFTaholic and have decided to do something about it. I have made it through October making only one IFT and I'm going to let it ride and not use my other IFT. I'm hoping that with a 12 step program and the support of all of you that I can stay away from the TSP web site and not fall off the wagon. Maybe a pair of those sticky pants and SOME SORT OF PLAN I can use my IFT's in a more constructive manner. thumb.gif

Now to come up with a plan... View attachment 10130

KevinD,

Try thinking 9 to 12 months out and let the market come to you. That way you have plenty of time to set your strategy - sit back and relax. Don't worry about the daily bumps just be right. That is where work comes in - it's really not easy even being a buy and hold.

Well to resist a IFT until election momentum kick starts market beyond sideways, "convinces bears", I shifted monthly allocation into S fund so I have a card in game.

No time like present!

You got the news?

PS-
I'm not all hyped about risk, and therefore planning my next LT allocation in Nov, but dude-
Take a cut of distribution, and leave it.
Mix it up, then put your contributions into the riskiest assets, that way if it tanks hard, you get DCA.
Then---Don't mess with it unless your percentages get out of whack.
i.e.
If I set my allocation to 10G, 5F, 30C, 40S, 15I , and I leave it for a month, then come back and S has gained
to 45 while C has fallen to 25, all the while I have put equal amounts in C&S with contributions, then I reallocate more to S until it quits gaining %.
At this point I call equilibrium.
This will take a bit to set up, like 6 mo of tweaks.
After that, I keep track of things, but I don't mess with it everyday.
With this method, I had a 67% gain for 2009.
All this time since May 6, the ups and downs, the fray and frukus, has left us FLAT.
Leaving it alone would have been just fine.
Trading and timing is what would have lost you $$ if you missed the mark, and lost DCA opportunities.
Too much info can drive you nuts, the TSP isn't a day trader environment.
This will be my plan starting Nov, (again) after experimenting with the trading game,
because it's too much frickin time spent, and you can do just as well with your eyes open for huge events, not the day to day crazy-making +100 / -100 bs.

Here's the pop. When's the drop?

I just voted and choked down a couple of chicken salad sandwiches. Now I gotta go sling some mail.

Birch - Buy something! :D

I'm struggling with the Flip video camera software. I'll have a video posted this evening.

What a blast!

Wind noise was so bad that I faked it and covered it up with some audio of the engine from one of the clips where wind noise wasn't an issue. The first few minutes of taxiing is with the wind noise. You should be able to tell where I dubbed in the sound of the engine.

The Flip camera did something weird with the sun. Theres a black dot over it. This was a sunset flight and we are heading west.

I took my GPS with me. I'll load the track into Google Earth and take a screen capture and post it here. BRB. :)
