kar crazy's Account Talk

Hello Kar, Thought you would enjoy this. All you Ford fans out there beware. My son has an 2007 F150 with a 5.4 Triton and it was running a little rough. Computer test showed a misfire so he decided to try changing the plugs (at 13.99 each x eight). Was ticked before he got started but did fine until plug # eight when it broke off. Apparently this is a common problem with this model. Something about the two metals combining and rusting ? Ford had to hire an engineer to design and build a speciality tool to remove broken plugs because dealerships filed so many complaints. He found one at a speciality tool store in Atlanta ($ 120.00) and was able to get it out. Is running great now but this really screwed up his weekend. Prospect of $ 2,000.00 repair bill was looming. Just a heads up for all you Ford truck owners out there. May want to let the dealership handle your plug changes!:(

and very common on the V10 fords, just another way to keep us shade trees mechs out from under hood;)

Happened on my 4.6.
Nice thing about living in small farm community is I went down to my dealer and they let me borrow the tool. No charge.

putting 3 inch inlet ,outlet flow masters with dumps on camaro , will still be loud , just legal enough to call street legal a single chamber muffler :) maybe i can hear myself think in there  naw i doubt it

Don't forget the anti-cease on those plugs!

I own a 1997 Ford E350 with the V10 Triton Engine. Yes this is a very common problem so let me add to the list.

When installing the new plugs make sure you look up what the torque setting is and USE A QUALITY ACCURATE TORQUE WRENCH otherwise you might get what is called plug blowout. Essentially the plug literally blows out of the engine stripping the threads on the head. Look it up, it is a common problem. Also use Dielectric grease.

And if your engine is like mine The manual suggests replacing the plugs at 90,000 miles then get new plug boots.

How do I know all this ? Because I just recently changed my plugs and boots.

New Plugs
Spark Plug Gap Tool
anti-cease
Torque Wrench
Dielectric grease
plug boots

PS - If you do lots of research you might get the prices I got.

10 - Motorcraft SP459 Spark Plugs + Tax = $33.50
10 - ICB100 Spark Plug Boots + Tax = $43.05

firday night races,
Made it into SEMI'S last Friday. I think I spent 120.00 to win 100.00  but had fun, now pulled motor Sat morning freshen up and a bigger roller cam:D, still waiting on TSP sponsor :D would look good on my doors

Glad u don't live in my neighborhood............;)

I have a close neighbor that brings out his "car" now then, I think its a Camaro I never asked him but I guess it just
has open headers because it is the loudest dame thing youve ever heard. He is also a machinist so I bet he has bored
out the block or something.

In fact he can be pretty rude and goes burning rubber flying down the road at midnight sometimes and I know some of the neighbors call the cops but hes never been caught yet. He doesnt really race this thing it just sits in his pole barn until he feels like takin it out to play with it. Weird.

Nope my windows are too low to do any harm.
My neighbor has a DRAG TRUCK, but he only cranks it up once a month.

come on friday ,blew up motor twice this year , last night for points this friday , all i can do is try to bring home the check about 6th in points no way to go #1 this year , thats why they call it drag racing ,might hook up the NOS as cool as it is , might break into the nines again , ole blue is running as straight as you would want her too

I have a neighbor who has what I refer to as a "race jeep". He starts it up about once a month, backs or drives out of the garage then backs or drives back in. Never seems to let it get warmed up. It appears to be a YJ but I never went and checked. All I can tell is that it has a very high stall speed torque converter, sounds like a V-8 and is very loud.

tough but fun,it cant be for money for where i am at but this year all free entry was cool ,but of course going every weekend tends to break more.i have been off for about a month watching the big boyz play, now cant wait with this cool weather , we should be haulen the mail :)
