JTH's Account Talk

Thanks everyone for the kind words, it's nice to be on top, but it can't last forever. The Top 3 are in the G-Fund, we've locked in our gains, now it's time for some new risky-blood to come in and take over the tracker. That's how life is, out with the old, in with the new, peaking at number 3 was a good run...

You would have been #2 Like I told you day's ago. One of the top 5 got wise to what I was saying..

:D

It's not every day I get to say this, the charts did everything I thought they would to the exact levels I identified. Here's what happened today. Mr. Market did just enough to give the bulls hope they can overcome the recent downswing (he kept them from giving up.) Then came along Ms. Market and she gave the bears just enough to believe they can continue the downside. This was textbook 50% retracements, be careful, if we don't hold these levels, the bulls are tiredly prepared to throw in the towel. If you're out, stay out and pick up the scrapes after the fight is over. If you're in, look for a close above current levels, that would be closing confirmation for a bullish Monday, JMHOYMMV

Yep.... you called yesterday's Market action alright! Thanks for the great charts and insightful commentary..:)

Watching the trains, planes, and trucks make their run for fun - the expansion lives.

I don't have my charts up, but that looks like the Transports gave us a reject at the 75% retrace on the last wave. I myself wouldn't make an entry here, it looks like a trap, each to his own, just my humble opinion.

LNKD is the current trap of the day - the big boys will put out the fire soon enough.
I figured you'd have been all over that for the first day anyway. I would have grabbed a few shares if I hadn't just heard about the IPO yesterday (not enough time for deposited funds to settle or some stupid rule like that).

Sorry, haven't posted anything, it's been busy. This market action has not impressed me, I want to see what this Monday will reveal. With the short trading week comming up, light volume may float the markets higher.

That's right Memorial Day approaches - a time of solitude and tears for many. There are some memories that refuse to mellow even with age. Many veterans will carry their burdens to the grave. And I find that I still have moments where I miss Spaf - an absolute hero in my book. Yes, I will cry and survive another day until next year. But I have no regretts for my service. It's my catharsis.

Participated in a Disabled Vet Salmon Derby last weekend. Had a Marine Viet Nam Vet, and a young active duty enlisted sailor from our command. I dedicated the trip to my dad a WWII vet and the man who taught me how to fish. Thanks Dad!

If you have a boat or know somone who does, please consider participating in one of these events. You will not, I repeat not, regret it. I plan to do at least one every year.

BTW we took 8th in the derby and my vet won some kool fishing gear and a bunch of other swag. I even scored a Benjimin in the Captains pool.

And most importantly I have the fond memories of all the faces of thoes who have contributed much to ensur our freedoms we enjoy today.

That is a good-looking fish, Elgallo! - and crew, too ! No doubt you had as much fun and joy as the Vets you were with ....
Are there other types of Derby's besides the ones for Salmon, and on our coastal waters?

Me too, but I'm thinking the week will be completely different, namely, unusual heavy volume monday and tuesday, and another leg down (~1 to 2 percent) due to continued lackluster economic data to follow up the rising job claims, lower retail sales, home sales/prices, and commodity speculation, and tapering of bullish sentiment generally. We'll see. I'm surprised you think it will be good, but I wouldn't be surprised if you are right and I am not.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a buy opportunity in early June?

I'm sorry I can't think that far ahead, I'll be happy if I make it to work on time Monday morning. :D

Yummy, today could very well be the day where you said to yourself, "I wish I had taken that awesome entry at the bottom!"

I wish I had gotten that TZA on Friday...

I got burned real bad off the 2009 bottom, shorting the banks with a heavy position in the FAZ 3X Bear ETF. Never again will I play a weighted ETF, they don't track well for long-term trades.

Check out this 6-month comparison chart. look at the 2 bottom price performance charts and ask yourself this. How can FAS be up 19.62% and FAZ be down -26.07% if the two are inverse to each other? That's a 6.45% 6-month difference unaccounted for, who's pocketing the extra change?

FAZ just did a reverse split last month

Remember that hourly S-Fund Head & Shoulders I drew. We went right back down to the price objective and held our ground. I have a second system that came close to triggering a buy. Had I an IFT, I would have made one today. If we hold our ground tomorrow, I'd make an IFT again.

It's either really dumb, or the best move this year, I'd gladly absorb a 3% loss for the potential of a 10% gain at these levels...
