JTH's Account Talk

I wholeheartedly agree with you. As an active member to the government, sometimes it just sickens me how much waste I see everywhere I look.
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I hate forcefully spending the rest of our office budget, so we can get the same amount of money the next year.
I unwillingly received new furniture and chairs this year, and there wasn’t anything wrong with the old stuff!

Why do I have a computer and printer that get replaced every five years?
If they have to spend it anyway--instead of wasting it on stuff --raise wages.

Weren’t computers supposed to replace our excessive need for paper?
That is the biggest farce. Always have at least 5 copies of everything. What for? I dunno.

My base has the worst recycling program I’ve ever seen. Our recycling center closed down last year, I guess there weren’t making any money? Go figure…

As for the market, we’d already hit bottom by now if it weren’t for the idiot corrupt Feds looking for a corporate job after they get fired.

I really liked and respected Bush in the beginning, but after 911 it all went down hill from there. The patriot act, homeland security, Iraq, and Obama are all W’s fault and now we’re going to pay dearly for it.
Yes W gets the blame but unfortunely, I think it goes back at least 20 + years or so.

There I go again ranting…

Rant away..it's only the truth. And sometimes you have to let it out.:p

Thanks for letting me rant WV-Girl, I needed that. :) Incidentally, most times I read your name, I read it as VW-Girl and imagine a hippy girl scooting down the road in a convertible VW bug. It's amazing the images pondered over peoples screen names. :p

Next year's goal... Beat the G-Fund

Hey folks I'm beating the G-Fund by .01% :cheesy:

Tomorrow is do or die for me. I'm either going to look like a brilliant Ace market timer, or I'm going to dive down into a pit a flames.

20 Chances to win
50 Signs I'm gonna get burned
30 Insane ways I can come out ahead by flipping a coin...

That's ok.(I think lady has done that too) I did inherit my brothers 67 bug but it wasn't a convertible and was many years ago, I probably would have been considered a hippy girl. Did drive it across country. Thanks for congering up some good memories for me.

I see you as the rock and role type with the glasses on your Mr. Froggy. Smooth and de-boner, I take it. (kidding)

I would'nt be surprised if the rally continues until the 20th or until reality sets in and the smart money can't fool the dumb money anymore. Hope you are profitable. GL

I do it all the time, WV-Girl! But I usually catch it before I punch the 'submit reply' button. Sorry about that! It's a vibe thing.

I knew I was taking a gamble going in a day early, and it appears it won't pay off. I'm not going to let this discourage me from taking risk in the future. I'd rather be in than left behind. The good news is my ROTH IRA is building a good base, and I made a nice profit on AMD this week. :)

No offense taken. Vibe away. As my late brother used to say "call me anything but late for dinner". Maybe I should change my username to something more conversational or colorful or descriptive. Like 'sassy' or 'red' or 'lips'.....oh geee, i dunno(I digress....)...on second thought naaa

I see you as the rock and role type with the glasses on your Mr. Froggy.

Kermit coulda made it big as a rock star, but things went downhill when he followed me into the Market. It wasn't much long after that Miss Piggy packed up the kids and left. Now he just wallows in the mud. :worried:

:worried: I'm already tapped out my IFT count again before even the first half of the month is gone. :embarrest: Oh Well, I keep a track of how all the funds had been doing my keeping a database logging in the previous day's results from going to govexec.com. You can't actively use the results for the current day using that, aka driving forward by looking in the rearview mirror. I've noticed for the last couple weeks, though that the F fund has consistently been giving a $0.01 up, whereas the rest of the funds have been helter skelter. So I'm at G-50,F-41, C,S,I-.03%'s. I know it can't get me mega rich but I won't keep sliding further into the 'doghouse'. I also am kind of uncertain about this, maybe someone out there may help, but with Obama planning to be investing in roads, infrastructure, etc. would this be a good time to jump into bonds? Today's my birthday and I just logged in for fun, no work for Dannyboy today. I'm just jogging at my alma-matter and weightfifting as much as possible.
Have a good day All. :)

After the first 8 trading days of 2009, I'm number 175 on the tracker. I've accomplished this through blood sweat and tears (lots of tears.)

But seriously all you folks above me, best scoot out of my way because I'm moving on up, with a deluxe apartment in the sky! I've always loved a challenge anyways...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!!

Glad to hear your exercising. I'm still exercising almost every day and counting my calories. I'm back down to my pre-holiday weight and now I've got 10 pounds left to go until I meet my BMI of 184. The good news is I lost 3 pounds last week, the bad news is this last 10 pounds is REALLY hard to lose. But it's all good, I'll get there come hell or high water!

Don't feel bad JTH...you are only 10 spots behind our stock market sage, Birchtree!

Gee, if you're trying to cheer me up, it's not working... :toung:

It's getting bad out there, and I may have to draw a line in the sand and bail, but I'd hate to bail so early this month and be stuck in G while watching some stupid news make the market climb again... :suspicious:

I honestly think that if you sell anywhere above 850...you will be ok. I believe 850 will soon become the new resistence, and we will dream of the day we can get back to a 4 digit S&P.

Thanks HGL :)

Sometimes it's nice to go against the grain and buck all this negativity. I'm starting the new year off with a glass half full. I quit smoking, haven't had a beer in over two weeks, increased my exercise, and gotten on a healthy diet.

As for the market... This is one thing I firmly believe. Americans have a short attention span and they tend to sweep excessive bad news under the rug. We are an optimistic hard-working people and we will dig ourselves out this mess.

Optimism will get you a smile and a laugh. It won't dig this nation out of the overflowing outhouse of bad debt created by loaning people money to buy houses, whose value dropped, and they don't make enough income to pay it back. No down payment, no equity, no personal responsibility, and no laws, to back it up. This isn't money on the sidelines, its money gone. It was a self-fulfilling bubble prophecy that drove home prices to 3X what they should be. As a result, we will have 2 million more foreclosures to come this summer and there's nothing anyone can, or should try, to do about it. These people can rent just like anyone else who doesn't qualify. So long, goodbye, and good luck. When - after about 10 or so years - you saved 20% down, call a bank and they will loan you no more than 3.1 X your gross income. Welcome back to the good old days.

Welcome back to the good old days.

Here here, unfortunately I agree with you. IMHO Folks like me have to get back to the lessons of our frugal grandparents and get away from the excessive consumerism taught to us by our parents in the 70s.

Funny thing happened the other day. My wife said she wanted to buy a juicer, but I knew we didn't have the money to justify it. I told her to put it on layaway! You know, that thing people used to do all the time before anyone had credit cards! :p

I've just noticed I'm #174 on the tracker, so that means I've moved up 1 spot! I feel so sorry for the unfortunate 173 people above me who are going to get pushed out of my way. :(

All you supposed winners at the top of the heap have so much more to lose. As for me? I'm already at the bottom, so I've got nowhere to go but up. :p

Remember when Dodge used to advertise themselves as "The Fastest Growing Truck Company in America" . . . at the time they were 3rd out of 3. :embarrest:

Go get'em, man! Best Wishes for 2009!

I do like your attitude. :D My first goal for the year is to beat the G fund.

Thanks buddy, I try not to stress out about my TSP account, since I have a ROTH IRA to manage now. I agree, the most important goal for this year is to beat the G-Fund....:)

Oh and I'm back down to #175, I slipped a spot today, so now I have 174 people in my way! :toung:
