jpcavin's Account Talk

I take lunch at 11am every day for the main purpose of checking for potential IFT's, hahah.

Me too. I was just too busy to take a lunch. Markets doesn't seem to be losing too much. Hopefully it's a soft drop and we'll be in an nice rally next week.:D

Not sure if I'm doing this right but looks like it is still on a buy?

$compq - 5 day ROC = 4.35 15 day ROC = 8.14 25 day ROC = (6.93) Net = 5.56.

Is this the symbol you are using JP?

What is $compq? is that the NASDAQ? I look at .IXIC or ^IXIC (google or yahoo).
Based on the NASDAQ Composite close today at 2579.46 the 5d ROC=4.53, 15 Roc=8.33 and 25d ROC=-6.70. Composite=6.16

I've received many PM's regarding which "system" or indicators I use. Read my threads below for an explanation.
You can read further about the Triple Momentum Timing Model at this link http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/0131479024/samplechapter/0131479024_ch03.pdf starting around page 59. I recommend reading the entire book. ;)

Some computer geeks :D also have formulas out there that are more advanced. Maybe someone with more computer knowledge than me can fine tune this Timing Model? :D See it here http://forums.stockfetcher.com/sfforums/?q=view&tid=72330&start=10 and http://www.amibroker.com/library/detail.php?id=788

I tried to attach my spreadsheet file but it's too big (3.6 mb). Go figure. Anyone that wants it can have it by sending me a PM with your email. Sorry.

You can get the Treasury Yield rates at http://www.treasury.gov/resource-ce...interest-rates/Pages/TextView.aspx?data=yield

I also follow the VIX (ticker ^VIX at yahoo)

For those that got my spreadsheet, always check the previous day's closing price. For some reason, some of them seem to get adjusted by the next day...

omg, you finished top five in less than a year and get to pick a prize! Lately I've been working at making enough returns to buy a coffee cup.

Go for the free coffee cup, even if you don't like coffee, it's like the holy grail of investing prowess.

You could autograph it and put it on ebay, I'll bid all my rep points for it.

Like you don't got enough with the +20% and all, you get a prize free too? The rich just keep getting richer.

Yes, $compq is also the NASDAQ. I checked the closing ROCs for $compq and they are the same as yours. Thanks :)

Burro, I was actually at 2.74% mid June. Made it to 22+ in 2 1/2 months. ;) I'm excited that I was able to accomplish that much with minimal knowledge of the markets. Like I stated earlier, ignorance is bliss. Sometimes the less you know, the better off you are. Luck doesn't run forever though. I hope that anyone that follows my moves are well aware to tread with caution.

I think Tom is much too kind. But I'll take that darn mug! :D

You guys must have a certain president (wont mention name) as your personal hero? I know he's RMI's all time favorite Presidente.:laugh::laugh:

Tomorrow I might purchase Latin American Funds. Specifically Aberdeen Latin America Equity Fund (LAQ). Not sure because I have to see what the fees are. If anyone knows of a cheaper/better stock or ETF that is similar to LAQ, please share.;)

Ok. Not getting into mutual funds. Looking at VALE, PBR, and STD for some Latin America exposure. They both pay dividends and are much cheaper than mutual funds. :)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for...http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/fund/EWZ/holdings

Someone told me to buy it over a year ago at $32 @ share (didn't) and the 52wk high got up to $81 - now around $62 and climbing. It's a basket of Brazilian companies. Check it out and let me know what you think o'wise one!

I'm on a learning curve.

Very good Kathy! I had considered this one until I saw the price. Only the rich can get rich! :toung:

Thanks for sharing it's good info everyone TA inclined should have a basic understanding of, I'm curious if you're actaully using the system, if so have you backtested it, and which indexes are you applying it to?
