Hull #153

The Corbin 39 was the result of an effort to design the ideal boat for serious blue-water cruising. More so than most sailboats, you will find the Corbin in the hands of people who have made extensive blue water passages or were at least planning on doing so, (as was the case of the current owners) until Grandchildren arrived. The Corbins overall length and cutter rig were selected based on the maximum boat that is rigged to easily singlehand. The interior of the Corbin is beautiful with teak throughout and well equipped to provide the kind of storage and functional living space that would be needed by a crew that may be away from a home port for years on end. Seaworthiness is high on the priority list as demonstrated by the boats robust construction, skeg hung rudder, an interior and exterior steering station, always within easy reach are handrails.

This Corbin has been extensively refitted for long term comfort, as demonstrated by installation of Air conditioning, Diesel Heater, Water Maker, Four burner stove & oven with broiler, microwave, TV with DVD player, Upgraded mattress in berth, large fridge and separate large freezer. 199 Corbin's were made with only 15 being factory finished and Swell Dish was one of the 15. Swell Dish is a unique one of a kind beautiful boat, that feels like home on the inside. Extra large flat deck which easily accommodates a couple of lounging chairs and a hammock. She has been loved by her current owners who spared no expense in making her not only a safe but also comfortable home. Swell Dish is ready to take you safely and most certainly comfortably wherever you want to go. This is a unique opportunity to own a spectacular one of a kind sailing vessel, you wont see another like this beauty.

Nice boat, Frixxxx!

I never heard of a Corbin 39 before- but there are like 6 of them for sale on Sailboatlistings.com

The one you posted is a beauty! Looks like it has all the right gear for cruising, too.

I hope to get something in a year or two- just enough to cruise the Great Lakes for the summer, and then maybe do the great loop - Mississippi to the Gulf. and back up the East Coast, to the Great Lakes again before I die. Then maybe move to the South of France, Spain or Portugal, and live near the ocean for a couple of years if I can.

One can dream, can’t they?

Nice boat!

This is my top choice to retire on while still being able to sail it. I wish it was mine, but still sadly waiting for retirement.

ok- yesterday's solid close, and today's action of NOT plunging back down again, gives me a little confidence that things may have stabilized a bit.

So I am using up my last move of the month to jump back in.

Now going to C=60%, and S=40%.

Good luck out there!

Wouldn’t you know it-

I jump back in, and then spot another very troubling headline tonight-

“GM offers buyouts to 18,000 salaried workers, says layoffs possible”.

I knew auto sales were taking a hit. But 18,000 salaried workforce at GM is a BIG number to get to leave. Biggest buyouts since the bankruptcy in 2008. That hurts.

I hope jumping back in isn’t going to backfire on me. Crossing my fingers now, big time. Let’s hope the declining auto sales, the new tariffs jacking up in November/December, and the rising interest rates don’t kill everything.

Good lord- this is tough.

I am seeing bad indicators from housing = NAHB Housing Index is way down- below expectations. Still at 60, but that is 8 poiints down from last month and a flashing warning for me, especially in New England and Midwest areas.

Bad- Housing.

General sales are weakening- they were up just 0.3% in October, excluding gasoline, but gasoline prices have since fallen, so the month of November is likely to record actual NEGATIVE sales growth. Which, if it does, is going to shock the markets.

Dang- what to do?

Should I jump out now? Thinking VERY hard about moving to the safety of "G" for a while, until things become clearer.

I had hit the 700K mark two months ago, and am now significantly below that mark again. Dang. I may just move to safety and wait and see what happens.

Will be taking a breath and making a decision before noon EST today.

Well, I screwed up. I did NOT make the trade today.

I paused at ten minutes before the deadline, and also consulted with my cube mate, and then stared at the mouse. And stared at the mouse. And stared at the mouse.

Until it was too late.

i KNOW that was a mistake. I should have pushed the button.

But the TSP gurus always say "don't panic, you are in the for long haul", and I didn't jump.

Let's just hope that I didn't just add another five years to my retirement planning......

I"m still in the market 100%.

((Sigh))

Been there many times. I'm happy to be on the pad right now. Here we are with 50 minutes left and the markets are all winding for something. Do we do a higher volume move up for the close? Or a toilet bowl? 48 minutes left of this...

Maybe Christmas music starting this week will help this market get in the mood for a Santa Rally! Nothing else has seemed to help.

I know this doesn't help much but most of us have been where you are. Its always darkest before the dawn! Especially in the market you know! The theory is you have already suffered most of the loss and we just know when we get out the market will go crazy!!! LOL Best of luck to us all!

I'm in the same boat. Was up over 12% for the year in September, with a similar balance. Lost it all by November. Made back 4% and if today holds, will be negative for the year. Disappointing.

It seems as though the markets tanked right after the mid terms

The 500-point rally in the Dow the day after the mid-terms really did a number on my system. That one day messed with several of my indicators enough to muddy the waters since.
