Intrepid_Timer's PUBLIC Account Talk

Hey I_T,
first off- thanx for your efforts mostly for us newbies. I look forward too using your service... Secondly, I have been trying to figure out how to effectively get another IFT (be in stocks at end of month to carry over to following month) and ride out the dips. Most months would be effective and some would get burned. So, since you may get multiple Timer buy signals in one month would it be useful to wait for second signal (too tough for me to wait) and carry over into following month effectively gaining an IFT for the next month ?? Confusing Q i know but there is some meat in there somewhere... E

I would prefer to be IN stocks at the beg. of every month myself.

Thanks to the TSP Bored (bird droppings be upon them) you have less options to achieve that.

You have the answer basically - wait to get in towards the month's end.

Either that or wear "sticky pants" as we say around here - ride it out and hope for the best.

IT just testing to see if we're payin attention, but I think the wilshire 4500 is made up of 4500 stocks out of the wilshire 5000 largest US stocks including the S&P 500 stocks. The 4500 doesg not included the S&P 500

Depending on who you ask, we might both be wrong. Looks like it might currently be under 4000. Guess I should just say it has "a lot" of companies in it!!

I've had a few people ask me about this. Some may remember that when I was posting as "mlk_man" years ago, I believe I was the first to broach the idea of buying on or about the 3rd to last day of each month and selling on 2nd or 3rd of the next month. You are right, most months are effective, but some aren't. I've noticed that February is typically one of those months, for whatever reason.

You will have more trouble with this method in bear markets also. It didn't work well at all in 2008. Although you probably would of beaten the market as a whole.

If you want to use this method by following my systems 2nd generated buy signal, you could. Just remember that occasionally some months will have only one buy signal and some others will actually get three. I'll sometimes wait until my second signal to buy myself if I think it is the best option at the time.

So basically, yes it is doable by following my second signal solely. But probably a little bit riskier. I don't like risk..............;)

U.F.B!!...thanks I_T.....looks like a damn shell game. Just goes to show, 'believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see"

I T,

I have about 30 minutes to decide....

I missed the move from F to G yesterday. What are the signals telling you this morning? Stay F or still move to G.

Thanks,
D

Still getting a buy signal for equities, so this means a sell for the F fund. Of course, it could rebound tomorrow along with the market. I really don't know, tough call. If I had an IFT left, I'd probably jump into the S fund.

BTW, the F fund has been waffling around between 14.23 and 14.26 since Jan 7th. Today's loss "should" take it down to that 14.23 mark..............just an FYI......

I just allocated my contribution to 100% S before 12PM today. Anyone knows if my contribution will buy today S price or Friday price?

You made the deadline of 12:00, Your going to buy S at price of today's close so if it stays down and then rises tomorrow thats the ticket!

As I stated in my commentary this morning, I think this dip may get bought later today, this another reason why going to the I fund today could be risky. They may throw a +FV in the mix and take it back tomorrow.............

When Goldmensux, Crapple, and Peeport McMoran take a big hit, it's hard to imagine there isn't more pain to follow...
