Hello,

I am a new suscriber to the IT service and as per today's comentary, E.g., "...until I post them in my “Signal's Thread” on the TSPtalk message board.", I can't seem to find this thread.

Can someone point me in the right direction. Sorry for the Reply to Thread input, could't find a Start new Thread option.

Thx.

EWB!

Re: Wondering where the Signal's Thread is on this site?...

Thanks Weatherweenie,

However, I get the following message, error message I spose, when I travel to the link you provided. Do I need to send a PM to Intrepid Timer or Crowley?

"EWB!, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Re: Wondering where the Signal's Thread is on this site?...

Appreciate the assist. I remember reading these when I joined up but, must have forgot to do it.

I plan to cancel this monthly subscripton on the 4th of January and start the yearly subscription. The trial proved invaluable and as I am living on my 401(k), I need to have somebody in my corner I can count on for a chance at success.

Take care,

EWB!

Hope the buy and holders at least had fun..................;)

Ouch, I/T that's gonna hurt................I can hear the cryin all the way up here in the North Country. You are absolutely right though, buying and holding generally stinks. I did that for far too many years myself so just like Slick Willy, " I feel their pain". Now is a great time to gloat a bit and do the happy dance. You know the happy dance don't you?????????

I'm sure my happy dance is different than yours. ;) I just hope the buy and holders realize that this is the flattest annual return the S fund has had since it's inception. The second flattest year was 2007 and we all know what happened the following year................

I have a question, if the SP500 ended flat to slightly down for the year, why did the C fund, which tracks the SP500 end up about 2% on the year? Does TSP factor in dividends?

I believe they only use the S&P 500 as a benchmark and it's up to Blackrock as to which stocks they actually invest in. I don't think they invest in every company that makes up the S&P 500. They might have also had a lower percentage of financial companies as these where the big laggards this year.

Oh, as far as dividends, I really don't know. They might even use them to keep expense ratios down. Of course, they could be pocketing the money as a bonus, who knows...............

I was reading an article on Market Watch this morning, Happy New Years to all, and found it interesting the SP500 lost slighlty on the year, but with dividends was up 2.1%. Exactly what the C fund returned this year. Makes me believe dividends are somehow worked into the TSP C fund share prices.

www.marketwatch.com

"The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index /quotes/zigman/3870025 SPX -0.43% was essentially flat for the year — officially it lost 0.0028%, or three-thousandths of 1%. On a total return basis, where dividends are included, the index was up 2.1%. A strong 11.5% fourth-quarter S&P 500 rally almost pushed a volatile year into the black. Even still, the quarter was the U.S. benchmark’s best since 1999."

I guess that explains it. Thanks for the clarification! :)

I find it interesting that quite a few of these analysts and/or talking heads keep mentioning how good the 4th quarter was last year. Makes you think that the markets are on a sustained uptrend and we should all be jumping in right? What they don't mention is that in October, the S&P 500 had it's largest one month gain in 20 years (Dec 1991) and that if it hadn't been for that historic month, it was a very bad 2nd half of the year with 6 of the last 8 months having negative returns. If they put it that way, then things don't seem so rosy. Once again, it's all about perceptions.........or agendas.........:suspicious:

I think we are in for another volatile year myself. Instead of bears versus bulls, we may see doomsdayers versus smiley happy people...........

Good article, travel is not a good option after the ballon goes up. You better be where you want to be if it happens or have your own tank.

Nice job on the tracker Mike. How many moves did you make?

Looks like about 30. Typically I do 3 per month, one each for the S, F and G funds, or F, S and G depending on my signals.

Great Job this year, you stuck to your guns and were rewarded for your patience, who says the Milk man doesn't deliver? :)

Thanks JTH! If I had stuck by my guns for three months over the summer, my return would have been much better.....:(

BTW, I'll be making a special announcement about my premium service on Wednesday. :)
