I Fund for July 2009

I just moved all my funds from the I to the G, good move or bad...opinions?

Only time will tell if the move was good or bad. But at least we only have 5 more trading days until we reload our IFTs and hopefully IFT time the next swing low.

On Thursday we got a bounce off support in the Dollar, so that could be a good time to watch from the sidelines and let the I-Fund take some hits.

Your thinking is like a person that paid $500,000 for a house. The house is now worth $200,000 and the owner is holding on to house. If he live long enough, the price might reach $500,000 again. It may also never reach that amount in 50 years.

OMG, If you only knew....most people in California are filiing bankruptcy based on that premis alone....If you have lost 50+% in value, most people would be able to walk away now and have a bankruptcy disappear in 7-10 years than wait the 9-13 years to theoretically break even.....

Use that time to build up a down payment and buy the house "cheaper" thean before andmove on from there.........

No buy and hold in that market. But then again, who buys and holds houses like stocks?

That's like saying the Dow will never get back to 14,154. I think you'll be surprised on how high the stock fund prices will reach over the rest of this year.

Personally, I didn't take a hit in my investments when everyone else did. I made money tell you the truth. "Bought gold at $350 and sold it at $1000."
And now I have moved a great portion of my money into the tsp I fund and S fund. "65% I 35% S" And I am going to sit an hold on to these for a couple of years. I have a long time to retirement, only 27.
And I think this is the best spot to be sitting for the next few years. But watching closely.

You cannot use the $26.33 as a benchmark. The world has changed since 2007. The real estate markets have evaporated a lot of wealth.

If the I fund is not over 50.00 a share the world had armagedon, your right it the overseas markets THATS where the money is BMAN. GO I SNORT :-====

Exactly. They shaved off that 11 cents today.

Wouldn't you know it. And I sold today expecting the pullback tomorrow.

To zacattacker- the answer to your question is:

No one here is clarvoyant enough to know exactly when to buy or when to sell. The best we can do is learn, learn, learn, and then try to develop our own personal style and strategies, with the knowledge that we fully understand what risks and rewards await our decisions.

Sorry, but if you are looking for one of us to tell you you are right, or that you are wrong, well, that is best left to those investment professionals whom are licensed to give advice ( I know I am not), and also earn their living advising others.

The answer is...do that which you are comfortable doing. For you are the one who controls your retirement wealth within the palm of your own hand.
