G Fund Payday

I glanced at the TSP G-Fund History. Did anyone noticed that the last time we had 7 days with the same rate was back, late in May 2005 (May 31 though June 8)? I'm not sure why we have this obove average situation...

Assuming the interest rate stays the same for May, the next most likely payout day is predicted to be Monday, May 5th, with a slight chance of paying the previous Friday, May, 2nd.

You should be ashamed of yourself, predicting the penny payday and taking advantage of the sheeple who never move their money out of the G fund!:D

Right now, I'm one of the sheeple, just waiting for the long term market trends to signal getting back in the stock funds. Viva la' Bah! Bah!

You're not one of the sheeple if you are looking for an opportunity to buy into the market. I've been in the G fund for a while now. Because of the FRTIB, I've missed this last rally. I may dip my toe in to test the waters here soon. I've only used one move this month and that was for capital preservation.

The new per annum rate for May has increased to 3.75% (we're in the money!). So, the predicted payday probability has been adjusted to about 50/50 odds of paying either today or Monday.

Welcome. It is kind of a moot point with the new transfer limits, and the TSP (rightly so I might add) will be making an adjustment so that it can not be done anymore.

Basically we can make an educated guess as to what day the G fund will pay its penny gain. The new change will have the G-fund pay fractions per day rather than a full penny on a specific day.

The TSP made it clear in the new transfer limit rule, that they did not like this practice calling it "insidious behavior". I saw it more as smart investors doing their homework, understanding the system, and taking what they are given. But again, I am glad they are changing it. It should have been done the right way in the first place.

I didn't see it as "insidious behavior", I actually saw it as keeping from (metaphorically, my computer is fine:toung:) banging my head on the computer screen because I pulled my money out of G right before the payout. I agree with TSPTalk that this way is better and should have been done in the first place.

Don't know about ya'll, but the penny snuck up on my account today. Been wanting to get the remainder of my account all into G from F for some time, got out with a few F pennies tonight, but the quick penny on the G this week did cost a bit.

Tree farm is doing well, but it's back breaking, enough so to convince any IRS agent of hard work and dedication. Planting season is done, now time to move over to the motorcycle repair side of business. I predict a loss this year with the economy being the way it is. Been looking at compact tractors for before years end. Sorry if that's vague, been a while since I posted.

PRESSKH,What are your estimated dates (June) for the almighty penny ?

Looks like the odds are about 50/50 for a payout either Monday, June 9th, or Tuesday, June 10th. If it pays on Tuesday, the 10th, then it should also pay on the following two Tuesdays (17th and 24th). If it goes ahead and pays on Monday the 9th, then I will have to recalculate the next two paydays. The interest rate for June is 4.00% (whoopee!!!)

I noticed that TSP states the fund shares are going to four decimal points starting July 1....so how does this affect the frequency for the G fund value increase to our account?
