G Fund Payday

Bear,

As I understand it, there will no longer be any even penny payouts. The payout in the G Fund will be on a daily partial-penny basis, rather than "saving up" for a week or so. Now, since they are only showing 4 decimal places on the TSP website and the payout is actually calculated to 10 decimal places, there may be a very slight adjustment every so often to bring the website price in line with the calcs, but it's not worth worrying about.

On my spreadsheet, I enter the closing price for all the funds.
I've changed the Funds within my tracking to 4 decimals but
find that I must now wait until after 7:30pm to get the closing
prices for accuracy.

With knowing if the (G) would accumulate a full penny in 5 days,
I could add 0.002 to each days (5 x 0.002=.01) closing price. If
the eventual penny would come in six days, then I could simply
add 0.00166 to each day. (all in advance). Thats why I asked
for updates originally, to find out if the next penny would come
in 5 or 6 days based on the current rate of return.

I totaly understand that the payout is now daily, but I was trying
to make all the tracking I'm doing a bit easier.
:)

Maybe someone can answer this, as I do not understand the day to day returns of the G fund. If it takes 4-6 days for one penny, why did the daily rate just go up .1 yesterday? One would think it would be .2+ or so. Does it flucuate day to day? Does it go up on weekends? Thanks for any response.

It didn't go up .01 cents yesterday, it went up 0.0013 partial cent.
Weekend question is a mystery to me too. If it stays that way until
a penny is made, right now, it would take 7.69 days? Curious !

If I'm right, they are counting Saturday and Sunday in their calculations.
Thats maybe why its accumulating a full penny in 7.69 days. That would
mean on Tuesday, a full penny would have been accumulated.

Well the G Fund is kicking ass and taking names this year.

The options are sit in the G Fund make 4 cents a month or move to any other fund and lose 30 cents a share per day. Wait for the bottomless pit and enter at some point just won't be today because we are going below 11000 folks and it could be fast right down to 10000 . IMO -

You have worked hard for your money so be careful -

As Oddball in Kelly's Hero's would say, "always with the negative vibes baby."

I'm guessing your response is pertaning to the post below mine.
If true, use the quote button to avoid confussion. The information
I provided within the link I posted, was positive in nature. By the
way, Kellys Heroes was a cool movie. But I like Clint's spaghetti
westerns (with LeeVan Clef) just a little more.
