Frixxxx's Account Talk!

I had a similar experience a while back. Someone hacked into my Ebay account and created a Sellers account. They listed over 30 flat screen tvs with them as the point of contact for payment. I found out when I received notification email from Ebay regarding my listing fees. I had to emailed everyone that placed bids to let them know what was going on and to make sure they didn't make any payments. It totally freaked me out. I belief it happend when we were surfing ebay over an unsecured wireless network. It was a really frightening experience. Learned our lesson for sure!

That really sounds like a nightmare. I thought ebay and Paypal were really safe. Paypal is always wanting me to add my bank account # in my profile so that I can be a "certified buyer and seller". I have never done that and don't plan to.

Frixxxx, I am sorry you had to go through all of that. Is there anything you can suggest we do to keep it from happening to us?

Good Luck !!!
Use a credit card that lets you dispute charges as your account feeder. That's the big thing! After that, you just need to make sure your police report gets filled out and posted. This allows you to claim fraud and using that to follow up on charges. If they do find the culprit, then the company will remove their eyes from you and focus on the criminal.

Wow! I have an account and paypal, haven't used it for years might be a good idea to cancel the whole thing?
you don't use it, you should lose it!

My sister-in-law is going through a bunch of problems right now. Someone stole one of her bills out of the mailbox and photocopied her check. The good thing is these dummies went to the same bank 2 days in a row to cash the checks they made and the teller called my SiL asking about the payments for some rental property. My SiL said that they didn't have rental property so the teller kept this guy busy while the cops showed up. They got him but his buddies are still on the loose.

Used to get Bonds in the mail (Back in the day :D)
Had some come up missing. Nieghbor kid was taking them.
Returned them 60 days after the delivery date, said they accidently got put in their mailbox. Whatever.
Takes all kinds.

I have seen this one several times before when I was trying to sell a Rolex, and then a motorcycle.

Frixxxx! I am so sorry to hear about your theft...and it looks like a lot of us have been through the ID theft nightmare.
...whether through the internet or just even physical theft; last week my daughter-in-law had her briefcase stolen with all
her personal & business-owner tax-prep papers.

It would be nice if All passwords were allowed to have special characters included instead of only the varied
combination of letters and numbers.

The experiences posted by you others has helped me realize that it doesn't matter if your banking account doesn't
have any sizable amount of cash in it.... Judy's situtation certainly makes that clear! And Jken's advice to not use a bank account as back-up is
something I need to verify I have followed.

One thing about the e-mails requesting more info or a response with your personal info, read them carefully for clues they are written by
someone who would not be considered as employable in any Customer Relations dept due to ineptness in English competency,
grammer, spelling, etc ....

Take care, everyone! And remember to change your verification questions & answers every so often, too.
Don't enter contests that require your birthdate, or to `log-in thru Facebook.'

And may things go well & speedily in getting everything cleared....

Well, lost another Government programmer to the Private sector.....35% pay increase and better benefits. 3 in the past year. They all left because of the money, and we can't find any programmers who will fill it for the pay. Those who will take the pay can't pass the litmus test for abilities and knowledge and can't even fathom the intricacies we work with.

Wow, looking at a third year of no pay increase...this is tiring. They got me because of how much time I have (19 years) and will try and do "more with less" once again. It's time to address problems where they exist.

At 3% average inflation, I will have taken a 10% pay decrease. My budget is on how much I make, so fortunately I have guidelines. My wife is helping trim some costs for more investments. Based on the cycles of the market, in 5 years, some of us will be laughing at this period and looking at it as a learning experience for the masses.

Hope to see a ton of green after Germany announces officially they will not allow Greece to fail tomorrow.

The Rats are leaving the sinking ship, I know plenty in the same situation, but I guess this is what the Government wants, a Government workforce without the required expertise to actually do the job. I'd call it overkill in the name of politics.

They'll have to use that pay your tution off for 10 year commitment or $25,000 signup bonus. The good retirement after 30 years and promotion potential won't work anymore. Too much risk since they showed their hand. The promises are an entry strategy and no more an exit strategy. Even think about thoese with less that 5 years. Possible no matching funds. Also think of those with more than 5 years left. No suppliment before 62 almost making it a manditory retirement age. I'm just retired at an golden time and got out at 58. My poor buddys with only 23 years because of no military time. My rant over.

What they don't realize or don't care is the work force is getting grayer and not to many young bucks coming through to take our place. I have been telling my supervisor for a year that I was going to retire around June of 2012. As of yet they have not started anyone shadowing me so I can show them what I do.

You have done all you need to do up to this point. It's in your supervisor's court. Don't sweat it.

It isn't going to prevent me from retiring. The place will run without me but it will put a little more pressure on my Systems Manager until the new guy gets up to speed.

it seems to be that way everywhere you look. im with usda nrcs and we have the same delimmna. we were suppose to have an engineer come on board and he was suppose to hit the ground running, but he backed out and now #2 and 3 are not being considered. sooooo they will need to readvertise. they have been saying a wave will retire.... but on the other hand a wave of newbies will be coming in. glad i will be able to go in 2 yrs. good luck all

I just read that Greece agreed to lay off 12,000 government employees by the end of 2012, but it has not affected the futures yet. Maybe the news has not been widely dispersed yet. I think this should be positive for the market today.

Looks like the count went to 15,000 layoffs. But I think Bernanke and his testimony is holding this day down.....
