As a country we need to regain our strength toward exceptionalism and down grade this nonsense of multiculturalism. Multiculturalism is really an updated version of radical egalitarianism which seeks to eliminate all standards and aspirations in order to reduce everyone and everything to the same level.

Well Birch, with the increasing gap between the rich and the poor I think it's safe to say we don't have to worry about reducing everyone to the same level. Unless by that you mean laying waste to the middle class and forcing all but the rich towards the "same level" of no savings, no retirement, no home, no food.... nothing but destitution. Nasa, did you really mean to open this can or worms? :D

Birch, you are using big words again. :suspicious: I would love to have a discussion about this subject, and I can open my account for some lively banter, but that will have to be another time. Deal?

Exceptionalism and Multiculturalism are not mutually exclusive. They are two different concepts that can work together for the betterment of this country. The United States of America was built by emigrants with a hodge-podge of cultural influences from the puritans, to the spanish, french, and british educated explorers, to the hard working entrepreneurs (transplanted on this soil through various calamities from war to famine). The exceptionalism of the space race was present with the will of the government and the people and was accomplished by people from all cultural backgrounds.

I think some use multiculturalism as a catch phase for anti-Muslim, women, blacks, etc... (all Americans) and loss of Exceptionalism as a catch phase for old white men frustration with their perceived feeling of irrelevancy. JMO (I'm done wiggling for awhile. I don't usually blow off steam like this, but I'm tired of the misleading arguments. The poor are not to blame and neither are those who care about giving the poor a chance to excel in this amazing country of second chances. It's time the rich paid back a little of what this country allowed them to amass whether that is money or opportunities for all. p.s. I prefer opportunities.)

The can is getting a little wiggley. Just looked to allow a place to blow off some steam. Some valid points are being made. Just remember to be civil. I have an opinion on this subject but again not at this time. I can open my account for a lively discussion in the near future.

Why do most politicians send their kids to private schools? Can't they get a desirable education in public shool systems? Not really, with all the social engineering going on no one wins. We need even more school choice with vouchers.

Understood Nasa. I'll put my wiggly worm away... LOL! I'd enjoy a nice debate about this stuff too. We could do it in my thread with Tom's approval... it's just collecting dust as it is. But Birch, if you're going to participate, you'll actually have to engage with more than just pot-shots, one-liners and Fox talking points...

There is no battle. I was referencing the 'peter principle' comment (not polite). You have no argument, just acrimonious insults for our Pres. -putting a pin in this. P.S. (Thanks for your service for this country and it's ideals of freedom and opportunity for all).

All the 'peter principle' says is that we all sooner or later reach our level of incompetence in case you misunderstood. Some of us get there sooner than others. Barry was a good community organizer and as a politician he's had plenty of 'present' votes to his career.

Is this the new beltway talk? I do have issue with obama as the community dude taking banks to task to enforce the CRA. Part of the problem undeniable. Then again what do you expect from a lawyer they will sell granny to turn a buck.
