DreamboatAnnie's Account Talk

I'll need to look at Wave Elliott theory that Tsunami suggested.... So much to look at but so little time. Yet I've always been interested in this topic. I'll need to make some time to review. JTH once gave an awesome post on Fibronacci retracement and how to compute. I'll need to study that more.

My iPad is very old and on its last leg..so messed up I can barely post. The updated ISO is so advanced this old iPad can't handle it. I prepare write ups in Notes and cut and paste into thread. Most of the time, the Paste comes up and disappears so quickly I must take a stab at it before it appears... Uggghhh!! I've got to get something that works with computing power... Maybe a hybrid 2 in 1. Gotta have something small with speed and power!

Please....If anyone has suggestions, let me know if you have a 2-1 that has plenty of computing and hard drive capability.

Thanks!!

I got my MacBook Air last June and I am happy as a clam. I am not a computer geek so I welcome all the user friendly no-brain required simplicity.

What do you mean by 2 in 1? What are you looking to do?

Oh, and the 13" is only 2.96 lbs.

2 in 1 hybrid is like a tablet (super small and light weight like an iPad) but has computing power to (hopefully) replace a desk or laptop. They are working towards that. Check out this link. I am considering the New ASUS Chi ..300. The most powerful one out of a trio of new product ASUS is putting out.... Price point at $799. It was supposed to be on the market in Europe in February and should be here soon. Gotta go see if it has gone to US market yet. I was considering a Microsoft surface Pro 3.

I want it be quiet, not get hot, easy to hold with one hand, but yet be able to attach and use a keyboard when needed. Good battery life 6-7 hours before a charge up.

I want to use it for surfing web, TSP talk, Stock charts, printing, downloading programs, creating Excel spreadsheets, file storage, and maybe more analysis. Plus needs to have great speakers for listening to music and fast video streaming. Definitely needs to be wireless and Bluetooth enabled. I must be able to replace a desktop, fast processor, accurate touchscreen, and have good large hard drive...but be very light weight and small.

You want a 2 in 1 for the very reasons that I didn't want one. I like using a regular keyboard and I like using a mouse and I didn't want to mess around with attaching and detaching parts. The ASUS sounds nice but I would wait for user reviews.

Now Burro, what are saying??? I need a woman? Hum.... Not by a long shot honey!
But I do think you need one .... And I should think you would want her to get hot! lol.... :D

Hello Tsunami ,

I tend to agree with you on all you said and especially on short term market. I will wait for a slight pull back from upper Bollinger band, and rely on daily price action and more economic factors. More corporate earnings reports should be coming out soon.

Friends have told me they think my criteria for entry was too conservative. I must agree there too. I know I placed too much reliance on the weekly charts for entry. Now I think I must limit that to just viewing it in terms of the longer term overall market trend to only look at whether the trend is in an overall uptrend or downtrend; and then using that knowledge only to tell me the overall risk. In 2008 (and 2009), the market was in a definite downtrend for many many months before the huge drops occurred. I think looking at it in those terms may give me more confidence to take risk in the current overall bull market.

I now will place more reliance on gauging the daily price action including an 18 day moving average, and increase my weighting on economic information and known information, especially about the Fed's policy. It was known that the Fed not only was looking at economic condition, but also whether inflation was below 2%. So I knew they would not increase interest rates. But my true concern was with policy wording and I doubted the Fed would give adequate assurance to keep the market stable....one way or the other.

In either case, last week was a crap shoot. Would the wording changes be enough??? I'm glad it was, especially for those that got in. It would have been a bloodbath if they had not said enough. I think it really stinks that so much hinges on Fed policy. But I do believe they will now determine if the Fed funds rate will increase each time they meet without any timeline, and the markets, being on edge before each decision to such a high degree is not good. It's so risky for short term investing, I am starting to think a longer term approach is necessary.

Someone mentioned the volatility picks up about two weeks before the Fed meets.... Does seem to be the case right up until the word is issued! The daily price swings that occurred during the last two weeks was just insane!

Yet there are those who believe the economy is good. That is what should drive markets, but with the Fed being so active, they will affect it every time they meet or whenever anyone from the Fed talks off the cuff. Some have indicated the Fed has overreached its authority, indicating that the rate increases could be seen as taxing the people. I don't know if they have overreached their authority, but I don't believe they should have the right to increase what we pay for borrowing. Shouldn't that be market driven??? In any case, their influence is here to stay and has been here for decades. So I don't see anyone winning that argument.
Best wishes to everyone in their investments!!!!!!

P.S. I also read a very good article this weekend that JPCavin posted on oil prices, their effect, and the dollars strength. Thanks JPC! Awesome article!

The air Mac looks pretty awesome! I looked at your link. I like the more powerful version on both the 11 and 13" models but would likely go with the smaller screen. I found the ASUS Chi 300T in the best version is not yet out. I found a forum where folks are getting a hold of them a little early and testing and giving reviews.

Boy am I glad I took that sensitivity training JPCAVIN posted on Burro's thread!

Seriously though, maybe check out a Lenovo Yoga Pro...not the fastest but you can get a portfolio case with a keyboard (no number keypad) and it works great with a blue-tooth mouse. The only time I have bogged down it's ram is when I tried editing video for doing training at work...so it may not have the capability you want.

I had an 11" ASUS that worked pretty well for a while but it was frustrating that everything did not fit on the screen when surfing the web. My MacBook Air is packed with 8GB Memory and 512GB storage. I looked at bot sizes at the store because I didn't really want a large bulky laptop but was pretty happy with the 13" screen.
I was looking for a comparable laptop for my son and read that the Dell XPS 13 is a pretty nice portable laptop that actually gives you 13.3" screen.

I will keep an eye out for your ASUS Chi 300

WOW! Great article Whipsaw! Very interesting.... I guess we will see if Mr. Fisher is able to presuade the politicians in DC to make any changes. Taking some power away from the NY Fed because they are too cozy with Wallstreet? Oh yes... and they mentioned what happened last year the NY president having to answer questions at Senate Bank Committe after reports that an NY Fed examiner said her warnings about business practices and deals at Goldman Sachs "were ignored or brushed aside by her superiors"... wheewwww.... and she had video recordings of those dealings where the higher ups are calling off the regulators. I think that sort of stuff happens more than we would like to think. Thanks again!

Thanks for the suggestion on Lenovo Yoda Pro. I like it! With JPCavin and your thoughts too, I am delving into this more. Just saw a site comparing the operating systems and now am starting to lean towards i7 for speed but trying to also get Window 8.1 better suited for touch screens ?? So many to choose from!! I am now leaning away from ASUS Chi which has the M processor. Seems some reviews indicate it doesn't have speed/power. Thanks for the help!!!

My preferred Elliott Wave count (warning, every EW guru out there has different counts and most of them are not good at it) is playing out as expected and as long as the S&P doesn't drop to more than a 62% retracement (below about 2068) I think today will mark the bottom of this wave B decline (around 2078 would be ideal, a 50% retracement of the last rally from 2039.7 to 2114.9), and next comes wave C up to the final top somewhere above 2120 (but below 2180, anything over 2180 would eliminate the ending diagonal pattern in play)...my favorite theory for a date is a top on 4/2 (April Fool's Day would be more fitting though), the day before the next good jobs report gets released, and meanwhile the markets will be closed for Good Friday so the futures markets can go nuts to the downside on Friday 4/3 and over that weekend, marking the top of the bull market since 2009. Here's another one of the obscure guys I follow that confirms a top could be imminent. Very few gurus are expecting an end to the bull soon, another good reason it could happen soon, just like back on 3/24/2000 when the dot-com bubble peaked and nobody was calling for it...

I noticed an unusually low tide today, in fact the ocean seems to be draining away....hmmm.... my tracker status is off reality currently for the first time in a few years. I'm in G but have an IFT left for March and have an IFT request in to get back to 100% C today, with the plan to get back out as close to this next peak as I can manage...just need to look for 5 waves up from today's low, completing somewhere above 2120.

i7, yep, that's what I got. Whew! For a minute there I thought my computer was already outdated.

I'm in the market, I'll be tracking this thread... :D
You are? I see your sig line says you are in the S Fund, but the AT says you went to G on the 23rd.

Oh, wait, that's not the market you're talking about, is it? My mistake -- never mind. :embarrest:

"Yoga"...not "Yoda"....That's what I get for typing the message to you after a weekend marathon of Star Wars with the kids.

Just for the record, I cancelled my IFT at the last minute so am staying 100% G....the lower it goes the higher the odds that the bull market top is already in place at 2119....but a break below 2040 will be needed to really start to believe that's the case. I'm just being extra careful here since the little countdown clock on my desk says 454 days to retirement (eligibility).

I'm glad I'm out of IFT's or I may have entered today.
