DreamboatAnnie's Account Talk

No..When you log into the TSP account you will see a huge banner at the top indicating May 16th until the first week of June. I just report what the TSP.gov says now. Not sure...perhaps it said something different a short time ago. You could have been correct before but now it is written in black type bold banner.

Historical TSP statements/documents no longer on TSP after May transition. Just noticed TSP site says that you should:

"Download historical documents: Documents and messages currently available in My Account will not transfer to the new system. You may want to download your historical statements and save any messages so you have easy access to them in your records. If you need any historical statements after the transition, you’ll be able to call the ThriftLine and request to have them mailed to you. Statements that post after the transition will be available to you in My Account going forward." [Emphasis added]

Transition starts May 16 and no IFTs after NOON ET, 5/26 (Thursday) until the first week in June (specific date not given).

No problem Felix! Just reposting links to TSP.gov site. They really BURIED this information. Click on the 2nd link and that is where the Tsp.Gov site specifies info on IFTs and specifies May 26. Initially, I thought it was May 16 too. But, I do believe you must download your historical statements by May 16.

I am quoting here from the 2nd link...It says:

"Investments
Find out about changes to TSP investments coming in June.

May 16

Last day to complete your rollover or transfer request by submitting these forms, and checks if applicable:
Form TSP-60, Request to Transfer Into the TSP
Form TSP-60-R, Request for a Roth Transfer Into the TSP
We must receive your request and any checks from new and pending requests by this date. If we receive your information after this date, we won’t be able to process your request. In that case, you’ll need to submit a new request after the transition period ends the first week of June.

May 26, noon

Last day to make investment transactions (including interfund transfers and changes to contribution allocations).
" [Emphasis Added]

Note: I would be nervous to wait until May 26 to transact....but that is just me. Actually even on May 16without calling in advance to confirm. But May 26 is what the TSP site says. I actually am wondering what the "first week in June" means as far as when we can begin IFTs again.

Now I admit I haven't gone on the TSP site to see what is going on. This has to do with transferring money in your account not IFT's correct?

Here is a snippet from TSP regarding IFT’s from May 26th until the first week of June….

“While your current TSP investments will remain active during this transition period, we’ll need to temporarily suspend investment changes toward the end of the transition period, beginning May 26, 2022. That means you won’t be able to change your investment choices during this brief time.”

BRIEF TIME!!! A lot can happen in 3 to 7 days in the stock market.

Hi Nasa, It includes not being able to submit ITF requests, or changing how your funds are allocated (via paycheck contributions) into the different funds. So whatever your choices are, they will stay invested in that manner until the new system comes on line. No specific date given except to say it will be the first week in June.

I don't know what they mean by first week in June...that is too vague!!!
June 1 falls on Wednesday and runs to Saturday, June 4.
But full first week of June runs from Sunday, June 5 to Saturday, June 11, 2022.

So, in my book that means it could be as late as June 11. I have always understood "The first week..." to mean the first full week! Hope I am wrong because that would be more like 16 days! BUT...this maybe shorter as I just found other section that says SEVERAL days in the key transition dates section that says:
"Toward the end of the transition period, we’ll need to suspend all TSP transactions for several days beginning on May 26. My Account and the ThriftLine will also close during this time in order to add new features to enhance the ways you manage your TSP account.".

BUT many transaction requests, like for withdrawals, loans, etc can't be submitted after May 16.

Ah, the old 'First week of June'...

Notice no strong date...

They are handwaving and giving themselves wiggle room. I would have your allocation set to ride for itself for a while. Don't count on things going smoothly. I really hope the changes are worth this pain. I doubt they will be, but maybe...

Here are 10-minute charts from a few mins ago and going back to 4/25, Monday of last week.
The I and F funds are making new lows compared to this 9-day timeframe while S and C fund are still above the lows we had three days ago on Monday, May 2, but S fund is within a few points of making a new low. Will see how the day ends.

Here are charts as of a few mins ago. Oddly enough, I am getting that nasty tug in my gut to get back in. Ugghhh.... I noticed that C fund lost its embedded reading on Slow Sto...but with today's action, could it drop back below 20? I do like the candles with long tails forming and liking C best. But any entry here would be very high risk and MACD default still in downtrend. But might be time for a one-day bounce????....gosh why am I even thinking about this? :worried:

Decision made. No, I will not enter. I am not going to enter until I see MACD default (12,26,9) cross above its own signal line. I have tried these risky moves several times over the past couple months and they failed to produce more than a one-day bounce and I overstayed my welcome. The old dead cat bounce strategy worked in Bull market...very forgiving.

Patience....even if we do bounce Monday....patience. It is tough to keep focused on change in market this year. BEAR! Need to stick with that strategy. :notrust:

But happy it's Friday... Woo...hooo..Hope you have a GREAT weekend!

So close to river tubing time! We need rain!

Better to be riding the tube in the river...
Than riding down the drain...

;damnit

There is that damn pyramid thang. Why do I always do that. Consider yourself lucky I don't use bullet points or hyphens. Man, I could do both and make this really good. Stream of blah

Here are charts. The pain continues...ugghhh. :( I understand Wednesday will be a big day with Consumer Price Index number coming out. One guy on FBN this morning said last month was at 8.5%. He expects 8.1%, which would be small improvement and he thought it might be enough to settle the market a bit. However, if number comes in higher than 8.5% ..watch out. Will see what happens, but overall, from what I hear, markets still have a ways to go. I remain on Lilly pad.

Also listened to Grok Trade video that came out yesterday (Nnutt posted it for us. On TSP Grok Trade hread ..Thank You Nnutt!) plus Ira Epstein's video here on TSPtalk (morning flash). Both very good informative videos!
