czapor1967's Account Talk

Can anyone tell me if there is somewhere on this site that I can go to find out what a certain fund did on a specific month and year? for instance if I wanted to see what the "C" fund did in April of 2010, is there a place that I can find that information? Thanks in advance, and good luck y'all!!! :D

also if you click share price history, you can change dates quickly. have fun seeing how much money you have made.:)

Don't know about this site but you can go straight to your TSP site here https://www.tsp.gov/investmentfunds/monthly/monthlyReturns.shtml and select Individual Funds (since inception).

This is a good site. I get my monthly information from here.

I should be posting the April information in a few days. It will show the "C" Fund returns all the way back to 1996. Good luck.

I saw the 6.66% thing, but I didn't notice that I passed you... it's all luck my friend! I have no idea of what I'm doing, I started off trying to follow the Sentiment Survey but came in a day late at the beginning of the year and that threw the timing off. I decided to give the LMBF -1 a try but couldn't handle watching the S fund making all the gains, so I jumped into S again... I guess I'll keep following the survey, afterall it got me out of quite a mess last year!
I'm sure you'll pass me by again, you seem to have found a system that's working!
here's to a great rest of the year for all!

can I get some of your guys' thoughts on wether or not to put more money into the tsp than the goverment will match? I'm currently at 8% and the gov will match 5%. but, I read that if you put more in it isn't really worth it... I don't understand that thinking, I guess. to me more is better, am I wrong? thoughts?

IMO,

That thinking applies if you are going to successfully invest that 3% somewhere where you can do better than if you were to leave it in the TSP, (in one of the F, C, S, I, etc. funds, using only two trades per month). An IRA, for example, where you have many many many more options where to put the money and can trade it much much more frequently.

If you're not going to actively manage that 3%, then it's probably best to keep it in the TSP.

I think Sensei said it best over on his thread:

Interesting. I checked Ocean's List earlier in the week, and it was a pretty even split - 47% in G&F, and 47% in CS&I. As of today, about 5% has shifted into stocks. With December's seasonality, I think everyone wants to be invested. Remember last December though - I believe stocks were down for most of the month before Santa's sleigh pulled them out of the ashes at the last minute. Just be careful a reindeer doesn't stomp on your head whilst making its descent.

So, does anybody else (with an iPhone) use the stocks app on their phone? I'm really confused because the app says (on my phone) that the I fund closed at +0.43% and on here it says that it closed at -0.08%... am I missing something or not understanding how the I fund works? please, any help here would be great! :suspicious:
