coolhand's Account Talk

coolhand

Is there any publicly available information on how the seven sentinals fared pertaining to a TSP account in past years or this year?

Quick answer...no.

But since this question comes up from time to time, I'm going to document how the SS would have performed from 2007 to present. It's tedious work, because I don't have a paid account with any charting service like stockcharts, but I can do it. I've begun assembling the data today in a spreadsheet. I think it'll take me at least a couple weeks so more to follow on this.

Thank you coolhand. Don't go to a lot of effort just for me. If it would be easier or all ready exists, performance vs S&P 500 or Dow completion index would be just as useful.

Too late, I've got most of 2007 compiled. :)

But it's going to take longer than I thought. As I'm putting this together I'm realizing there's other useful info to glean from this effort, but it'll take more time to complete.

I've been asked numerous times about this anyway, and I wouldn't mind seeing the results myself. I think we can all benefit from it. ;)

I would like to know where exactly is this so called DEFLATION they are PROMOTING? I don't see it, everything is rising in price that I see, must be deflation in stock prices or something that I'm not aware of? Everything I buy is more expensive, services are more expensive, electricity is more expensive, where are they hiding the cheap stuff? I SMELL SOMETHING! Rat.gif

I don't think we have deflation (other than our home prices ) ...yet.

And the inflationary stuff they strip out of the monthly data.

And folks who stop looking for jobs because there aren't any get dropped off the payroll numbers and jobless rate.

See a pattern here? :suspicious:

Are you buying groceries or services? Services, definately prices are going up. But sadly the inflation calculators figure you can install your own drywall and insulation (and do it right) and oh, these are upgrades so they don't count. My electricity bill has gone down (it has to do with natural gas prices) so that's not universal.
