coolhand's Account Talk

Went 50/50 GS this morning. I think we could see a bit more selling tomorrow, but Monday's coming. What has me a more concerned was a jump in bullishness on Trader's Talk after a moderate dip. But this market won't go down without a fight, so it's worth some exposure.

Agreed - I dumped most of my F-fund after picking the bottom exactly on that 1/4 of my TSP earlier this week, and went 90% into CSI. Other than momentum, there was a) the 100K drop in continuing claims this morning - a couple consecutive weeks of decreasing continuing claims, and another positive jobs number at month's end might hold this market up, or at least limit the downside risk for the moment. and b) continued low volume, which, as I'm sure you've noticed such as on the SPY, has been a strong correlate of uptrend over the last year (and vice versa, with increasing volume associated with peaks and selloffs).

If, as I'm sure we both hope, there is movement towards 1,200, I am anticipating some selling either just short, or above, that number - (i.e., the reverse of the mentality which kept the market at 1050, when everyone was looking at 1035 on the dip, thereby missing it).

Anyway, that's my thinking. Good luck to both of us.

on page 9/15 speaking of Iran/Israel this comment:
Likelihood: Moderate, the U.S. government is doing everything to tie the hands of hawkish Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, but he may still act if his information suggests that Iran is close to finishing
I find it unreal that when a country the size of Rhode Island responds to threats, bombings, rockets, promises of extinction, and all the other stuff going on over there, that it, the oppressed one, is the hawkish one. My feelings are, if those other fellows whose land mass is larger than the US & very nearly surrounds Israel, didn't take into consideration possible loss of land-mass when they started their multiple wars, they should just live with their poor judgment. And, take into consideration that if their attacks were thwarted the day after Israel became a country of its own, by a fledgling military & maybe two piper cub airplanes, then those big bullies had better hesitate to take a long look at where Israel's help came from....

Ouch. Now they have to pay movers to clean out one of their houses. And they will have forego visiting that one occasionally. I bet they made business decisions on which of their houses to surrender and allow the rest of us to suffer the loss.
