coolhand's Account Talk

Hey Coolhand,
It's late and I'm finally finishing up and ready to head home.

After realizing how the population at large is prepared for retirement it kind of made me not even care about the TSP anymore and I've simply let things ride in G. In comparison I'm pretty set and so the motivation to aggressively go at .... just kind of disappeared.

But now I'm thinking of going back in here and there; but honestly don't want to bother with the day to day. I'm just not one to leave my money anywhere .... after awhile I'm ready for a change and in the long run that mentality had really paid off.

Well that leads me to your system -- which is basically the only one I haven't tried. Please don't be offended by that because the ones I had put a lot of faith in ... did incredible for awhile but almost everyone seemed to fail over the past year or so.

Well SORRY - for being so long winded -- but I was wondering if you'd post a 'Buy' or 'Sell' somewhere on your posts -- so I can go with that. At this point -- I'd say yours is the 'winner'.

Much appreciated !!

Steady

From that article: "there is a risk that if confidence is not as strong as generally held then financial markets will crash rather than undergo a healthy correction"

I believe that Austrailia was the first major country to start a new rate raising cycle last year, and right after they did so their markets took off higher. A rate hike could finally spark a 2% or so healthy correction that is needed (I think we'll get a drop down to the low 1130's next week), but a crash?, I doubt it, not yet anyway. A 0.25% rate is hardly high enough to kill an economy, there's not a whole lot of lending going on to kill anyway.

Yup, CH, that game is almost over. The FED will or cannot keep buying bad debt. They gave our Federal Gubmint over a year, but the gubmint just kicked the can.

This administration - and many of the states and localities - thought this 'recession' was a normal blip. And, it might have been. But with individuals and business expecting higher expenditures (to taxes and fees and penalties and regulation) there has been no real growth. We are probably nearing the discount level folks are placing on our economy under these restrictions. Thus, the blip becomes a bbbblllllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipppppppppppppppp.

Imagine the FED pumping all that money into the system and we still deflated last year.

At best we can expect Jimmy Carter II.
At worst we can expect a capital strike like the 1930s.

Is Lehman Brothers an Isolated Example?

Mr. President, I’m concerned that the revelations about Lehman Brothers are just the tip of the iceberg. We have no reason to believe that the conduct detailed last week is somehow isolated or unique. Indeed, this sort of behavior is hardly novel. Enron engaged in similar deceit with some of its assets. And while we don’t have the benefit of an examiner’s report for other firms with a business model like Lehman’s, law enforcement authorities should be well on their way in conducting investigations of whether others used similar “accounting gimmicks” to hide dangerous risk from investors and the public.

The Case of Greece

At the same time, there are reports that raise questions about whether Goldman Sachs and other firms may have failed to disclose material information about swaps with Greece that allowed the country to effectively mask the full extent of its debt just as it was joining the European Monetary Union (EMU). We simply do not know whether fraud was involved, but these actions have kicked off a continent-wide controversy, with ramifications for U.S. investors as well.

It makes one wonder if there are more landmines out there, that the big boys are hiding from the Gov't and mainstreet. :worried:

Coolhand,

Been looking at the SS and getting a little lost. I see the weakest buy signal and I'm thinking of locking in profits.

Do you see any strength?

I got two IFTs and I may jump for a few days.

Let me know!:suspicious:

You have 2 IFTs? That's a nice position to be in, today would have been a good exit day...
