coolhand's Account Talk

I just hit my short term target limit of 5% with the SSO trade from yesterday morning and got out. :) Not sure what will happen now in light of FOMC mtg - should be interesting.

Nice trade. We're still seeing some volatility, but it's resolving higher now.

After being heavily bullish the past couple days (rightly so) Trader's Talk is now heavily bearish (to the extreme), which usually means a fade. If you're thinking this market is going higher soon, we may get a good buying opportunity today. That's my early read prior to the open.

i'm thinking after the Fed fake-out, big boyz will start accumulating once we get transports, oil and financials on the bottom bollinger of the 30-minute candlesticks. At least, I hope so :)

Here is a bullish perspective from TT
"
"Technology has been improving.... Semiconductor Book-to-Bill is at 1.17 and is improving steadily every month.

AAII Sentiment is 55.5% Bears and only 22% Bulls. This low number bulls usually show up close to a bottom.

Rydex Ratio shows an increase in bearish positions that matches up with the last 4 short - medium term bottoms over the last 5 months. There has already been a lot of money pulled out of bullish positions with money now waiting on the sidelines."

Wow, great contrarian stat. That's really lopsided... maybe enough to pierce a right shoulder high if all those bears opened short positions.

Have to respect strength here. I think we're going to see some selling pressure come in today at some point, but the technicals are improving quickly, so I'm front running the SS right now.

These signals are just coming too fast.

Be careful. Bonds are strong. Dollar should rise this afternoon. Nikkei futures are flat, despite a big rally?

That's ratio of 0.40 to 1, and that's about as low as that one gets. Last week's TSP Talk survey came in at 0.76 to bulls to bears (also overly bearish) but today's survey is not surprisingly seeing a lot more bullishness. We have several more hours to go but the early numbers are:

52% bulls, 36% bears for a ratio of 1.44 to 1, which is neutral, but pretty high for the last year or so.

Be careful with the semiconductor numbers....there was a big fall late in 2008, subsequent nastiness in first and second quarter, and we haven't gotten back to where we were. Month to month, yes, getting much better. But we are still climbing a ladder up toward a manhole cover, if you get my drift.:notrust:

I thought we'd see some selling step in today, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. This is looking a lot like the June rally.

I don't know. This may be the reason I put 50% into the CSI funds today.

We may not have had much of a dip (there was one prior to noon, but it was anemic) but so far I have 6 buy signals on the Seven Sentinels today, and I'm waiting on the 7th. It should be a buy or darn close to one.

Coolhand,

Thanks for making the 7 BUY signals known. That is very cool and since these are distinct 'realiable indicators'...:)

... I'll hope for the best :D:D

YW Steady. They have provided many opportunities already since I first made them known to the board. How each of us chooses to use those signals determines our ultimate success. I'll be speaking more about this in my blog this evening.

Coolhand,

On the SS portion of Traders Talk he used to have a chart that showed the SPX prices and overlaid on that the SS buy and sell signals. Does that still exist somewhere in an updated version? Could you please post a link to it if you find it? Thanks.

I'm not sure it would be of any benefit if I could find it (I can't either). IYB has not been declaring buys and sells everytime the system flashes them. He hasn't declared the current buy signal valid either. Mainly because BPCOMQ has not turned higher yet.

I would put one together expect I'm not a paying member of stockcharts. That would allow me to mark up the charts. But I only use the free portion the site to post my charts right now.

Not sure if I am understanding you correctly - do you post charts in the Free Public Charts section of Stockcharts? If so, would be interested in checking them out.

Also, somehow I got kicked off your email list, can you put me back on?

thx
