Roll Tide Roll

i just wish saban hadn't have stopped em from playing in the begining of the second half, he hates to run up scores and they went to a conservative system with mcoy out, then boom they caught fire and we had to come back and play again... all said and done, ROLL TIDE!
 
Too bad McCoy got injured. As soon as he was taken out, it just took the wind out of my sail and it no longer felt like a National Championship game. The fumble before the half was huge. Awesome 49 yard run by Richardson in the second quarter

Oh well. Another fun season with some great bowl games and regular season upsets. Next up, we get to see who our favorite or local NFL team picks up in the draft.
 
Not many people predicted a mismatch. Great game Tide.
Texas, try tackling. Of course you have to want to tackle:D

Good stuff! I never played college ball but I got to play against a good SEC back in high school. Keith Henderson (UGA) was a senior and I was a freshman starting at safety (5'4" 135 lbs. dripping wet and with all the pads on). He put up around 300 yards on us in 3 quarters and I swear that on at least two runs he cut back against air just to run over me so I wouldn't try and tackle him from behind (he ran with really high knees). Coach pulled me at the beginning of the 3rd quarter but before I felt relief, he said I was playing quarterback... thanks coach. I spent my offensive debut making 30 yard scrambles for my life that usually netted 2 yards max.

Yep, MSU - All of 195 lbs, soaking wet. LOL - I had a horrific collision with Neal Anderson - When I woke-up I could seem him 68 yards down the field doing a dance in the endzone. (Looked like there were 4 of him doing the dance)

Holy cow!!! And you survived? If memory serves, you played for Mississippi state, right? Every once in a while, I'll watch an old game with Herschel or Bo on ESPN Classic and see that the D-line hardly ever got a mitt on those guys so, the linebacker gets to take on that beast with a full head of steam. The linebackers in the SEC back then had to be tough, strong and a wee bit crazy, no? But, at least you got to relax when you played against "lightweights" like Neal Anderson and Dalton Hilliard.... Yikes!!!

I was one of the unfortunate linebackers to play against Herschel and Bo during college. IMO, Bo was better. All of Herschel's offensive linemen had long pro careers; Bo had a bunch of no-names. But I agree with you - who cares?

I'm taking Bama 27-10. Too balanced for the Longhorns.

My thoughts, ND does not want anything to do with it and their not losing any money because of it. The NCAA would have to make it painful to force ND's hand. JMO


Considering the number of great football players I've watched over the years this is a rediculous arguement, however they both have been a treat to watch on the field. I would have been happy to have either one of them in a PSU uniform.

Yep, but Nebraska almost turned the BCS on its head in that championship game vs. Texas this year. It was a great football game to watch. But imagine what a failure the BCS would be with four undefeated teams arguing and bickering over who "deserved" to play in the title game. Just helps make the case for the playoff system. The bowls are only about money... nothing less, nothing more.

Dear Lord, OSU, PSU, Wisc., UM, Iowa and MSU against Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota (then Notre Dame)... looks like gerrymandering to me. Notre Dame would, if forced into the Big11, probably have a straight face when discussing this proposal with the Big11 working committee. :D Again, you're right about $ driving ND's decision making.

PSU made a wise choice not going to the Big East in hindsight. But, if they and ND had both joined the Big East along with Cincy and one more legit program, the Big East would have been a pretty decent conference in it's own right. But, thankfully for the ACC, Virginia Tech and Miami joined the ACC, and thankfully for the Big10, PSU joined them.

I'm also with you on the whole Tebow/McCoy argument being silly... just enjoy watching them play and both performing great on the college stage. It reminds me of the whole Herschel Walker/Bo Jackson debates that raged when I was a kid... who cares? Love 'em or hate 'em or indifferent, they were both great to watch on the field.

The only thing I do not like about the Conf championship is that some times the game seems stupid. A 3 loss team vying for a CC against an unbeaten team? Happens.

Agreed on Mark May and the affair. I think he secretly wished he played for Alabama rather than Pitt so he would still have a true program to root for as an alumni. Pitt used to be a force back in the dorsett and marino days... now they're becoming something else 'cuz they don't get top notch recruits anymore (Larry Fitzgerald being an exception).

Good thoughts on trying to break the game open early too. If I were paid to coach, I would try at least two home run plays early against either team.

Now, back to the big 10/11... most big 10/11 fans I've talked to like the idea of expanding the conference and having a championship game but they don't want to bite the bullet and accept the obvious choice with Notre Dame. Your thoughts?
 
Neither one of these teams has had to fight back from a (Big) deficit. Texas last second field goal against Nebraska but they were never out of touch. Alabama against Auburn same thing.
I look for one of these teams to try a big strike early. If that happens the other team will be in unfamiliar territory. (For this season anyway)
