clester's Account Talk

"I still think that once the index breaks the support line of this rising channel, it'll get real ugly, real fast. But it's still too early to get aggressive on the short side. The S&P 500 looks like it could make another push up toward new all-time highs before stocks roll over into a correction."

That's sorta what I'm thinking. We go up to 1700 or so before the correction starts. But I'll let the charts tell me what to do.

So much for yesterday's rebound. It didn't last. Let's see if today's will. My sell stop is now yesterday's low.

I'm not feeling very confident in the market right now. I was going to sell 50% today if we broke yesterday's low and we have held just above it so I will hold for another day. Who knows what this afternoon will hold. Volatility is a big negative for me and we are getting plenty of it lately.

Just broke below, are you sure?

We are near the 50dma again which should provide support. If we go below 1600 I'll sell the other half.
Sometimes the trades don't work out. IMO, you need to sell when that happens and don't try to hold on hoping it will come back. Find you a spot that is a logical place to sell and stick to it.

You've done well so far and I'm sure you will continue to do so in the future.

Thanks Ken. The 20 point up day signal was what got me. I've been thinking about it and we had 2 down days over 20 points and then this one up day over 20 points. With that much volatility I should ignore the up signal. A high volatility usually means down in stocks. You learn from these situations. The 20 point down day was a good signal though.
