ChemEng's Account talk...

Some more scary discussion on Fox News. The talking heads say that it is possible that if Obama is set to win the election, Bush may preemptively attack Iran to force his hand early in his administration. Also speculates that if McCain is set to win, Bush would not attack Iran to give him the option.
Someone said the other day that Bush was the Anti-Christ, and I told them that Bush was too dumb to be that evil. If he truly is considering attacking Iran before EOY, then I was wrong.

I've said it before and I'll say it here again--Bush preemptively attacking Iran at the end of his term is an absolute worst case scenario for the US.

FOX News. Enough said.

I don't think Bush will strike Iran. His father made the terrible mistake of committing us in Somalia on his way out of office and Bush has tended to not repeat the mistakes of Bush 41. But more telling than that is that we simply don't have the troops positioned correctly to protect against Iran's move if we were to attack. They could invade Iraq and we would be in a terrible situation militarily and politically. Now, he might give Israel the OK to attack, but he has already said no once, although at some point Israel WILL do it on their own if they have to.

Oh I agree completely. This is just another case of their blatant fear-mongering. The discussion really caught my attention because I have been saying that a US preemptive strike in Iran before the next presidency is an absolute worst case scenario. This was just the first time that I have seen the talking heads bring the issue up...

Yup, and what most people don't realize is the impact of oil prices on Iran. We don't need to go to war with Iran. If we can just get oil to drop below $40/barrel, the Iranian government will be in danger.:D

I understand spin and half truths from both sides of the table, but this is a blatant lie. I wish there was a follow-on question that asked him specifically which rally he heard someone calling McCain a traitor at. For a man running on the value of his character as a campaign pillar, this is a huge step in the wrong direction.

Mr. McCain--I appreciate your service to this country. But we don't need more people like yourself in the White House right now with loose enough character that allows for this "any means necessary" type campaign tactics. That's exactly the opposite of what character and leadership we need in the White House.

I was sent this picture at work of a mother grieving over her son's gravestone in one of the emails you aren't supposed to send at work. But it does a good job showing the mistake of judging someone strictly on the basis of a name.

I think this was also mentioned by General Colin Powell in his endorsement of Obama on Sunday...

I bet Daisy is now almost full grown and a charmer. The reason for my visit is to find out if you have any desires to move to the lily pad? Just curious that's all. You've had one nice ride from the bottom to almost there at the top. Inquisitive minds would like to know.

Good to hear from you friend.

Here she is at almost a full year sitting in what used to be a flower garden until she claimed it as her outdoor seat. I guess the ground is cool on her belly on those hot Alabama summer afternoons. (There's also a small shade tree beside the planter that you can see a small branch on the top right of the picture that also helps.)

Ive really stopped tracking the market's ups and downs most of this past year. Instead, I'm just buying everything I can along the way. I do believe that it is possible to beat the sp500 with the TSP. But I'm coming to terms with that fact that you only live once, I really don't want to spend that much time working to beat a number. *shrugs*

Your dog looks great....I love bull dogs....at first I thought it might be a bull mastive...looked bigger from one of the pictures. I like them both.

The picture of the mother over her son's grave is a very powerful picture. It is sad that a few peoples in any group can screw it up and defame the name for the rest. A very sad picture indeed....the black and white photo...does make it better!!!!

Then I'm safe to assume you were also involved in the negative reputation points delivered on Corepuncher's post #587 dated 8/23/08. That's a rather audacious position and blatantly arrogant on your part - what ever happened to fair treatment? It's not my fault you are #158 so let's try and use better judgement.

So I have to assume you're attacking me now.

Why because I'm Birch's little brother??

0n 9/1/09 in my own home - none the less - #2695

Put em up .. put em up ... you dirty little rat

And just what do you mean by 'Steady, the morale booster' ??

You'd better think twice before saying something behind my back by golly. When I lose it - it's too late -- and once the s*** hits the fan it flys everywhere. So remember that cause I don't think you want a mess all over the place.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it buster - cause I might not use the big words Birch does - but I still get the point across pretty well.

grlllllllllll (these are teeth garling)

Uh oh....is that a "No Parking" zone?

Nice bike, by the way.

If I had something like that,
I'm afraid I would dump it and
break it into a lot of pieces.

I had some motorcycle experiences when I was younger.
Luckily, everyone survived.

But boy was it fun.

Shoot, James, he's not parked on the printing - and besides - the `no' looks like a hieroglyph for `BIKE.'
And - I'll bet he only stepped off it for a minute to snap the photos!!:)
It sure is a pretty thing!
