The
first time you've bought off eBay?
Wow, thanks for sharing!
-just remember... read the seller's feedback
before buying.
a) Sellers with less than perfect scores that rebut negative feedback
with legitimate points and go uncontested are usually decent and show a willingness to communicate.
b) Pay attention to the shipping fees.
If something is priced low and there are no bidders getting on in the auction,
see if shipping is jacked 2-3x so a seller can minimize the "final value fee".
c) It doesn't matter who leads over the course of the auction,
just who wins in the end.
Think of it as a poker game, you wouldn't want to show your hand at the deal would you?
Wait until the end of the auction to bid seriously, preferably within the last 30 seconds (15 if you have a fast connection).
You can always tell a noob's involved by the # of bids racked up.
If you click on the bid #, you will see them bidding up $1 or $5 at a time, 5, 10, sometimes 15 bids.
In the old days, when user names were displayed, you could track these boneheads and mess with them.
They would bid like crazy to be on top, then the old bulls would go buy the identical item for less,
knowing the noob was stuck by their lonesome in an inflated auction of their own making.
fyi-
I NeVeR did that! LoL.
You can tell a good, serious auction, by serious bidders looking for the best price on a desirable item by noting the bid increments.
May folks will put a "placeholder" bid on an item to keep an eye on it in their buying list.
If the auction progresses within a few dollar increments and attracts quite a few bidders,
then you have got some serious competition on your hands, and you know the item is most likely fairly priced given it's level of desirability.
GL, and congrats on losing your eBay Virginity!
I'm telling your Mom!
