Bquat's Account Talk

I always thought IRA's should be left alone.
Depends on your goals...

I guess unless the DOW is at 20,000 by the time I retire I probably won't make much money huh lol.
Possibly. I feel for the people who wanted to retire in 2003 and 2009...

We want to bounce again here. If we don't make a higher high today and hold I think we have a rounded top reversal. Little bear:(

Also we can have a double bottom reversal and go up. Little bull:)

Another coin toss day.

Speak about being bullish or bearish look at the two time frames. The 15 min is bullish and the 10 min is bearish and I use the 30 min now.

So I'm going with 1244 as a bounce level and the top today may help to decide. Any way were out of the bull channel, so I removed it.

With several people on the forum having a buy signal I went back in 100% S Fund COB today. I plan to ride out December in hopes of this Santa Rally everyone is talking about. I guess we shall see since that was my last IFT for the month.

MaSta, remember that you have a "third" IFT each month, which can only move everything back to G.

I think I typed that right....

I am aware of the freebie back to safety, but with a lot of December left I think I may ride whatever waves there are (hopfully more up than down). With people expecting a good rally I do not want to miss out on it so hopefully I don't have to experience too much pain waiting for it. Maybe it would of been better to save the IFT I used from yesterday and ride the rest of this week out, but I got worried. Too late now...

If I'm not mistaken, you can actually IFT as many times as you want in a month, as long as each one after the first two increase your amount in the G fund and decrease in your other positions.

Just a little extra technicality there ;)

Congratulations!!! Whatever happens from here on out, your out/in trade bought you about 2% from where you would have been if you had stayed put. :)

Hmmm, so does this mean I can bail out of only 1 out of several funds if I want to? Say I already have 2 IFTs and end the day at 33.33%C 33.33%S 33.33%I and I want out of I. Can simply move the I Funds to G like so: 33%C 34%S 33%G?

Thanks! It feels good to finally do something positive for my TSP account, but lets see if my move back in today will prove to be a good choice.

Yes, I do believe that is correct. I'll have to find the instruction and post it here for clarification.

That is how I understood it. Pretty cool that you can do that to decrease the amount of money/risk you have in the market. When I invest in TSP funds I usually just pick one and put it all in there.

Just over halfway down there's a bullet on IFT's. This is the excerpt I was looking for..

"The second transaction you may want to
make is an interfund transfer (IFT). An IFT
is a transaction that allows you to redistribute
all or part of your existing TSP account
among the different TSP funds. For each
calendar month, your first two IFTs can redistribute
money in your account among any
or all of the TSP funds. After that, for the
remainder of the month, your IFTs can only
move money into the Government Securities
Investment (G) Fund (in which case, you will
increase the percentage of your account held
in the G Fund by reducing the percentage
held in one or more of the other TSP funds)."

So although it doesn't specifically say how many IFTs you can do in any given month, it does sound like you can do as many as you like. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the charts as always! I had drawn 1235 in the sand over the weekend and we broke it solidly in the last 1/2 hour. I will do some research tonight but am not following the buy signals so many are posting. I could see it while the 1240ish was holding but not now. Maybe something else is there, I sure hope so and that I find it, but I fear the EU giving us a big lump of coal during the Santa rally. Hopefully I find something to keep me in, otherwise I am into a preservation mode with my 1st transfer of the month.

1226 ish is my line in the sand. If we don't get a 1.5% pop off it, I'll exit because I don't want to take any chance in the gap fill area.:(

The market has shown that it doesn't trust the outcome of the meeting to save Europe. I hope a move up tomorrow even if it's off speculation.

I am glad I'm only 30% in and hope it doesn't gap fill befor I can get out. A small move up tomorrow even off 1226 will be an exit. Remember how I have said this is a news driven market and TA works only during the absense of news or between each news event. The onset of fast computers has really made news more of a factor.

Little Bear is wearing sunglasses and walking toward the G pond.:( So someone tell him the water's too cold.
Here's the chart. PS thanks guys for visiting.:)

Agreed on the pop and out tomorrow. Preservation mode is in this time of year. I am looking at the 1218 mark again myself as I don't see 1226 being much of a speed bump if the news is bad. I am getting tired of the EU crap but at least now the markets are using some common sense when responding to the news. What I mean is that the EU hasn't been able to straighten this out over the last 2 dozen meetings (where the market would surge up and then crash down, depending on the news) so why would anyone think the fundamentals have changed across the EU enough to support their systems...in certain areas, yes it is changing... but not enough to effect the EU area in a positive manner in a short time frame. GOOD LUCK!!!

Little Bull is still looking for the rounded top to be broken, but Little Bear doesn't think so because of the 200. Me I'm hopeing for another .5% or I exit. Any down turn right now I'll draw out my 30%.

went to the 10 min to show this:
