bmneveu's Account Talk

Up about 6.7% on my positions today, so tempted to take profits. I am just glad I'm making some money on my individual investments, better than my TSP at the moment. Good ole G fund lol.

I found this website that investigates and attempts to reveal the secret investments that those pump newsletters try to sell. Pretty interesting. Sometimes the big reveal ends up being a large cap common name, sometimes its the tiniest unknown company, and sometimes its international and not easy to purchase. Definitely something I will do a quick search on before I invest into any lesser known small cap and/or penny stock.

My travel industry stocks are up huge this morning... cruiselines, airlines, expedia and marriott all up 6-10% each. Everything else looks good this morning too, but these ones are just through the roof.

This is what I was hoping for when I bought them. As the economy reopens, they spike back up close to where they were pre-lockdown.

SpaceX / NASA launch scrubbed. Bah. Was watching the coverage most of the day. Hope to see it go this weekend!

I have Carnival and MGM. Hoping for the same as you.

Carnival is up 23% since I bought it. Don't have MGM but MAR being similar is up 18% since I bought. Biggest winners by far though have been Norwegian Cruiseline (48%) and Royal Caribbean (41%). Expedia and the airlines ETF JETS are also doing great at 20% and 21% respectively. This is all since May 11th, just 13 market days ago.

Out of curiosity I pulled the Autotracker data into Excel to get some averages. Here they are, as of today:

YTD Return: -5.08%
MTD IFTs: 0.42
YTD IFTs: 3.43
G Fund %: 31.67
F Fund %: 10.16
C Fund %: 22.48
S Fund %: 30.04
I Fund %: 2.23
L Funds all less than 1%

Not sure what happened with the average 2019 return, but its definitely not the shown 41.3%.

Anyone have experience with any of the crowdfunding / angel investing sites? Any winners? Anything to steer clear of?

I just started looking at Jet Token this weekend. They were heavily advertising on FB.
Very interesting....but very risky. Started in 2018, still raising $$. No revenue yet.
Good opportunity to get in on ground floor, but right in the offering they say you should not invest any more than you could afford to lose.

Hah, that is the exact company that got me on this train of thought. I saw their ad on FB this morning and started looking up angel investing sites. I'll probably pull the trigger on Jet Token. Throw $100 in it and see what happens. Maybe they fail, maybe I make a million bucks in 5 or 10 years. Do this with 10 start ups and hope one hits.
