bmneveu's Account Talk

Also bought some TNA @ $50.94

TNA is sitting just over $54 currently for a sweet 6%~ gain in 1 day. I really wanna exit this position right now due to this voice in my head repeating this "pigs get slaughtered" mantra.. But I feel like there's upside next week as well. Not sure what to do...

Sold TNA @ $54.33. Bagged about 2% yesterday and 4% today. Trading account is now 36.4% YTD. Making up for what I gave up last August. I would like a 50% year but I'll be deployed for September and October so it may be tough. Along with my TNA/TZA trades, I'll be looking at going long on oil around $80/barrel and shorting it above $100. Also considering a long position in Gold if I can get a price at/under $1550. TSP is still 100S and looking to score another 1% or so next week and then get safe.

Looks like today's gains will wash with yesterday's losses. Still have Friday's big gain in the bag. Feels like momentum is up but JTrader is issuing a half short this afternoon, which coincides with seasonality and the expected weak earnings. Bernanke hinted at easing being around the corner which turned the market up on a dime around 11am. Not sure which way we're headed tomorrow

I think I'll secure at least half of my TSP today into G. I'd go to F but treasury yields are so low I'm not so sure it has a whole lot of reward potential left in the short term. Then again, I was saying that 2 months ago as well and missed out on some sweet gains.

Not gonna get greedy. IFT 100G COB today. I've had a successful June & July. I can rest my TSP for a bit now and focus on the trading account.

Bought TZA @ $17.54!

Edit -- And looks like I grabbed about .60% from the S fund on the way out today.

My current short trade is grabbing a little gain today, thanks to small caps lagging. Sitting at #112 on the YTD AT. I'll pull a page out of Intrepid Timer's book and say, I'm sitting .13% behind the S fund but I've only risked 96 out of the 200 days S has been in.

This may sound far fetched, but netting 26% a year will double your account in 3 years -- not even counting contributions! I mention that because this site has shown me that people reach these lofty numbers all the time by just paying attention and making educated IFTs once or twice a month. If not for this site, Tom, and everyone that contributes, I'd still be comfortable with my 2%/yr in the G fund. My 9.8% in 7 months has made me a happy camper and I doubt I'd be anywhere close to that without everyone's input here. Thanks all! :D

For what seems like at least the last week, the C fund has been earning more than the S fund on up days, and losing less on down days. Can't argue with that. Looks like the place to be if you're in equities these days.

Almost pulled the trigger on selling TZA @ $18.44 but I'm gonna wait till later this afternoon to see JT's signal. Nap on the couch time!

As of this weekend I'm sitting @ #2 on the monthly AT.. I may finally get the illustrious coffee cup i've been gunning for all year (and narrowly missed in May at 6th place ). But I'm sitting in G for the rest of the month so my fate will be determined by how well Ya'll play the tracker!

Futures look like today opens down pretty big. 2 big down days in a row... buying opportunity, or something worse?

Woohoo! I think you got this one locked up.

Unless some magic euro 'let's all get along and use the fruits of our labor to pay for some smarmy hairy guy to lay around naked on the beach' big red button pops up and they invent some printing press new math to fool the wizards of finance and unforseen earnings go fallin out everybody's global butt.

I'm betting you got a new traveler mug in your future, promise you'll take it on a road trip?
