bmneveu's Account Talk

Futures are getting crushed this morning. I'd consider getting in but it's a Friday so I'll probably hold out to see what happens Monday morning. Let the weekend breeze by in peace.

I suppose that's wise. I've got 1/3 of my account in stocks, which I designed so that I wouldn't feel pressured to "catch the falling knife". That 1/3 is getting beat up pretty bad, but it will also catch the bounce when it comes. Then I can chase the gains with the rest of my account, right?

Bought some TNA near the close at 43.08 to tickle my fancy. Still 100G with TSP and will take a close look next week at an entry. 10yr bond is giving less than 1.5% now. I imagine people will be getting out of that. Gold saw the influx today. Maybe the people will look to equities next week. Who knows!

"At some point the market corrects.. I just spoke with S&P about this. Normally the market will drop 8% at some point in the year, from where it was on Dec. 31st"

The S&P500 was at 1257 on Dec 31st. -8% from that gets you to 1156...

Bumping this post from awhile ago for good measure. Something to consider as we approach that number. I wish I could wait to see prices that cheap. I may buy in a bit tomorrow, and save some cash in case this statement holds true for this drawback.

Looking at recent IFTs, it appears about 90% of the moves yesterday were OUT of equities, and about 90% today were IN to equities.

With those numbers, I would guess two different subscription services...on opposite ends. just a guess.

Yesterday was dumb money and today was smart money

Sold TNA @ 46.80. Made like 8 or 9% in 3 days. Woo! TSP is still in G though and missed the ride. My trading account is now vastly cash.

I've actually had 5% of my account in S since June 4th due to contributions (which timed the dip just right!), so I have been sneaking a few dollars into my account from this rally. I'll let that chunk ride it out in S until I decide to move the rest to join it. Last weekend I said that I was looking to jump in on Monday, but never did. Hindsight is 20/20 :\

Made $8 off the rally haha. Lunch's on me!

I probably would have IFT'd in to S today if I had the chance, but I was slammed all day. May look at tomorrow as an entry.

A few longterm plays on Oil.. go long/cover every time WTI Crude hits $80, sell/short every time it hits $100. 1 long and 1 short per year will net you about 45%/yr. I'd even consider leveraging on the long trades. That would easily set you over 50%/yr. Not bad for 2 trades.. Thoughts?

Bought TNA yesterday @ $45.10 -- sold it today @ $46.49. Not a huge move, but a successful long trade nonetheless. My trading account is sitting at 20.66% YTD. TSP is at 3.5%.
