Birchtree's Account Talk

My buddy Evinrude says keep on buying, don't stop now c'ause the times are right: RDC, TRV, S, SXC, MTG, MPX, FOE, MLI, HXL, GGC. If we show any kinf of a rally off the frogs I'll be back to scoop up more wall flowers. Mindylou has made up a brand new list for me to work down.

Sarkozy spoke and the market listened. Past the dead cat bounce. Beginning to look like the side of Mt. Everest. Three hours left. Could go either way. I wish you luck with your investments. I have a few stocks, and, dang, I want them to go up. Soon. At least by Sept.-Oct. . . . As Frank Zappa said, rejection is such a drag. But if you want to go to heaven, you gotto go thru hell . . . (Oz.Mt.Daredevils). Good luck, Birchtree. Just looked again. No, this looks more like the side of the abyss. Last two weeks, we're back, it looks like. We'll see. Everyone has their own agenda in this. I finally stuck enough nails in my market voodoo doll that it woke up and listened and smelled the coffee. I just seek a round-about way to up via down.

"So, if you get your investing mind set right (psychology) then market panic events such as last week are not times to panic, but rather a time to stock up on higher yields courtesy of lower stock prices of between 5% to 15% compared to where they were barely a few weeks ago....consider the yield, which is how you should also approach stock market investing."

Do you think Bernanke will announce another QE3 on the 26th? I've read different views on the subject and I can't seem to lean in any one direction.

jp,

I believe he will announce some form of program and not necessarily call it QE3 but it will probably do the trick. I decided to step in front of the Grand Trunk and purchase a few more precious wall flowers: EQY, AGO, CBI, GSM, PVA, TRW, PCX, KMT. If the Grand Trunk permits I'll be buying all this week. I just can't help myself 'cause I'm just a greedy bugger when it comes to wall flowers.

You don't know how much I wish I could be purchasing individual stocks like you.... Unfortunately, I am stuck with TSP for now.
I know it only takes $250 to open a Roth, but what the hell can I purchase with $250??? Even if I could swing 1k-2k, what can that buy? If you have minimum income to invest, would you make your initial investment in just one company or would you split your money among several different companies? I suppose that indecision is what's keeping me from getting started...

When you have limited capital it might be best to take positions in several companies. If in a Roth you'll have plenty of time to accumulate shares, especially if you purchase dividend payers - those dividends reinvest every 3 months like clock work.

Didn't you buy BAC the other day? Their stock is really looking cheap today.

BAC is one of those stinky stocks that will allow me over time to accumulate thousands of shares. I've dollar cost averaged into many of my bank holdings this month - thinking about the future. I own somewhere close to 45 financial stocks - so I'm in deep and getting in deeper.

$7.35 is cheap, but I think it may go even lower. That it what is keeping me out.

I bought BAC at $7.54 and again at $7.04 during this month. Sometimes you have to endure a loss before a gain arrives. I'm buying for better times a few years out.

I'm buying'em early today before they get more expensive: ALB, KOP, HRS, KWR, CBU, WR, MTRN, TRN, WGL, BKH. Money continues to burn a hole in my sticky pants pockets. No sense trying to run from Ferdinand.

I know it's getting monotonous but I'm still adding to my risk curve - so many wall flowers to DCA into: PNC, SLE, HBI, SE, ACC, LZB, NGS, UGI. I've made 193 individual dollar cost purchases since 8/5 - if the market rockets today I'll easily break the 200 mark.

Does not look like it will Rocket today.
