Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

"As you can see in today's chart, the current strength is not close to being at a Bull Market level."

Thats what I'm talking about, Something tangible to sink your teeth into.
Even if we see another leg down (possible W), the risk of not being in,
outweighs the risk of a correction at this point. JMHO :)

Re: Birchtree's account talk

ChipDip is definitely someone to listen to. His use of Engrish is unparalleled.

I hate to say it, but I followed his sage advice and reallocated to my safer model. Probably overly safe for my age and risk acceptance. But, as ChipDip states, the Great Obamasia will soon speak in tongues through the grill of the Prophet Geithner.

Geithner, ‘The Financials Killer’, will swing his mighty yak on Thursday. President Obama will remind us that we elected him to run the financial sector. The financial sector is the chosen one. The Law shall be spaketh upon tablets of stone. Geithner shall deliver them unto the minions.

And Geithner will then espy us worshiping a bull market.

And Geithner will not be pleased.

He shall breaketh the banks and destroyeth the bull. He shall renew control over the masses. He shall seeketh the truth and shall turn to the light.

Then, Obama shall be pleased.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I have something for my new acquaintance Chipdip.

"Quite simply, the last Bear Market rally did not end until our zero based C-RSI entered positive territory. As you can see in today's chart, the current strength is not close to being at a Bull Market level."

http://safehaven.com/article-13265.htm

Hey Birctree, This read like chinees math?

What is a zero based C-RSI????

http://www.safehaven.com/article-12151.htm

What was the difference in these two different outcomes? The C-RSI was positive in the first event, and negative in the second event. See the blue circles on the C-RSI and you will clearly see why the second occurrence was stillborn.
So now, it is December and we just had the VIX drop below support. Many investors got excited and thought that the S&P was going to charge up in a Santa's rally. Instead, the S&P 500 only moved sideways with disappointment.
So, where has the C-RSI been while this is happening? If you look at the chart, you will see that it is clearly in Negative territory ... and as long as it stays there, a dropping VIX won't give you what you are looking for. As long as the C-RSI remains in negative territory, a dropping VIX will only give you a market with a sideways trading range.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The VIX did close out yesterday at 33.36 off 1.77 on a stock down day. I'd be careful of the rally we're going to have today you don't want to gety suckered in like everyone else.

Rally today? Does Ferdinand know about this?;)

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The VIX is going to break below 33.00 today. The wife made me bring home some glade scented candles this morning. She says the house stunk so bad from Ferdinand hanging around. Yes, the overabundance of the sweet smell of superlative bull manure was bothering the wife - she was having difficulty differentiating her perfume for the day. Snort!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

If this rally continues to ramp into the close I'll be getting ever so close for my first ever $100K week - I've been very patient and I want my Maypo. All my banks except for (BCS) are firing like twelve cylinders on an old XKE.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

"Many investors are deluding themselves into thinking this was a mere sucker's rally in an ongoing bear market but they will be surprised when they learn, belatedly, that the March-April rally leg was only the first portion of a continued cyclical recovery." Just thinking about missing the train gives me a pucker butt.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Birchtree, you just blew my doors off, when you passed me and Squalebear
is getting close to the plus side. As two of my favorite posters it's great to see both of you doing well and
I hope the upward trend continues for everyone. As I'm nearing 65 years of age (August) I don't post a lot
but read all the posts on this board. I'm still holding around 60% Stable value and 40% stocks, while
buying C-Fund every two weeks.

The thing that concerns me is the politicians. We have a special lot of louts in office right now. And, some are going to initiate a couple of days of idiotic yammering. Geithner, Obama, and Congress can create a stock market correction in seconds flat. Just one inane comment from one of the tens or hundreds that love to hear their own voice and we will have another 6% down day. Very survivable – but, worth the risk?

Thought it would be best to rest on my newly made cash pile for a little while. Then put it back into play early next week. I do not think this is necessarily a logical market that follows the normal patterns. It fell much too fast and much too far.

We still have to watch the impending failure of California. We is goin’ broke. Can’t fix it. Just sell the state south of the border I say. We do it with our old cars – why not with a state that no longer runs!!!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

As Clif Droke said: "....we will likely see an even more amazing stage of the market's recovery." The Dow futures are up now +66 and that portends a good opening - Nikkei was up 408. I say kiss the Kress.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

My toxic portfolio is being sanitized again - the financials are leading the troops today and that is healthy. The big V will not be constrained nor will it wait. You now have to pay inorder to play and hesitation will just get more expensive.
