I'm glad you're talking like this. It encourages me to stay all in.

I agree that things are bad, but they will not stay that way forever. I'm not a bull or a bear. I only know what the trend is. The trend is down at the moment and that is what I am following. I want to be as close as possible on capitalizing when it reverses. In my opinion it will at least temporarily reverse very soon. I'll keep my finger on the the trigger. Don't unload your guns yet!!!

I see the annoying side has come to life again and appears to be thriving :notrust:; well as least that part is healthy. If there was any true consistency  all of us would be raking in the bucks. The most fascinating part of your communication is the undeniable certainty the Markets will only plunge downward - which seems highly improbable based on the lifelong history of fluctuations. I suspect you're running to the dictionary to see what I mean - so let me save you the trouble; FLUCTUATIONS means that forever and ever the Markets will have variations of rising and falling.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

That's right, fluctuations will happen. Take advantage of them and kick up your contributions. Make it hurt!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

asian markets taking a pounding as they open.....down...down...down...and people keep throwing thier money at this................

It is rather annoying isn't it? This board gets moody enuf on down turns, no need for Mr. r to keep turning the knife. JMHO

Re: Birchtree's account talk

This young man (Mr. recognizer) is only talking fatuously without credance until he is on the autotracker. But he is fun to listen to - I find him enjoyable. We are not going into a recession and this is not a bear market - we are experiencing historic capitulation and historic negative sentiment values. It would be a good time to add to dollar cost averaging but I don't think these golden prices will last to long - everything seems to be compressed in time and we are simply coiled to explode upward as soon as the market wakes up to the economic realities that are out there - this is all basically bearish hype. Not a time to cut and run. I believe we now will have a 5,000 point run ahead of us for 2008. And yes you can quote me on this for future reference - remember I did predict we would see 15,900 on the Dow at the end of 2007.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Darn--and I wanted time to accumulate mega shares at lower prices.. Shucks. LOL

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Only the Shadow knows WHEN it will reverse. But any three year old will be able to look at a chart and proclaim that the TREND is upward. If you don't have a three year old handy..then check the front page of IBD (Investors Business Daily). If you want to try to lead the trend with a guess..Well you're on your own. Right now mine is just a guess and nothing more.

Sorry for hogging your thread Birch.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I can't wait to see the next Employment report numbers...if uncle Ben comes through big, a better than expected jobs number could really kick a rally in the butt (so I can sell again lol)

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I've always thought that as a goal it would be nice to be able to make $100K in a single week - I still have that goal but it is now on a back burner. I've been slammed to the tune of negative $127K in only three days and today is not over yet. My plan as always is to ride this correction and continue to reinvest my dividends which are buying golden prices - the more stock bought the greater the dividend next time around. A retest of Dow 11,700 is a snapback to the breakout high of 2000. I'll accept my level of pain and remain patient for a better day - been here and done this before.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Birchtree,

Thanks for posting. It helps to put losses in perspective. I have never had losses like this before. I am down better than 40K and today looks like it is going to add to it.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

whitemingo,

And you just locked your loss by doing an IFT to the G fund. Perhaps you'll save yourself from further losses with this move - I wish you luck. My Ducati is greased and we'll ride the valley. This market is very emotional but the future in my opinion is still bright - look at the earnings from GE today - a large cap international player. C fund will take charge on the way up.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Hey Birch, most can relate but you have to admit we have all been spoiled. I rather sleep in the house with running water and a toilet. That pump water on the outside and outhouse with the sears book and corncobs are times I'd rather not revisit.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

if you ever needa good laugh tune in to this idiot kudlow on cnbc...what a joke he is and typical of people cnbc hires...this guy was a complete wash out as an investment guy on wall street and landed here on cnbc......what a joke he is with his goldilocks crap...the subprimers, over stretched consumers and people who live beyond theier means need to pay up and feel the pain....this will take years to weed this problem out and in the meantime...no bail outs,no rate cuts,no rebates,no tax cuts......tank market tank!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Don't cry for me Argentina. I made my bed and bet and will accept what the consequences will bring. I'm still very bullish for the longer term and will be patient until the turn around comes into view. I will be buying stock for my daughter next week and will gladly post our selections - mostly in the financial sector. I've always operated best from the bottom of the well.
