Birchtree's Account Talk

Well it was no fun last week if you are deep in the oil patch like I am. This is how things went: +$21K, -$14K, -$21K, -$184K for a give back of -$198K. I've done worse at times - now I can start collecting more oil shares at cheaper prices. I've been through these bumps before and oil always wins. I finished the month of November -$94K which isn't too damaging. When my buyouts complete all the funds are going into oil stocks and some coal holdings - remember we are soon to be under much better leadership in the country.

BT,
Which particular coal and oil stocks spark your interest ?

You must remember that I'm a contrarian investor so everything on my list stinks but offer great values. MRO, BAS, LNG, GBX, TRN, ETE, WMB, HP, HAL, AE, ETP, EXH, SPN, ATLS, SN, STO, SU, ERF, BTU, RDC, NFX, CNQ, just to name a few.

I've now received 157 dividend increase announcements, one short of 2013, but I expect to get a couple more before the month is out Would anyone care for a few oil ETFs: USO, XLE, OIL, ERX, VDE, OIH, SCO, XOP, ERY, DIG BNO, UGA and a few fracking stocks to top off the Santa Rally: GDP, SN, CWEI, CPE, LPI, OAS, SGY, EPE. Now is the time to put fresh money into oil equities. I actually have 17 dividends due today and several of them are oil stocks.

The Dow and SPX putting in new highs but my oceanic account is not - primarily because of my energy holdings. But I plan to sell nothing and add to my oil holdings. Last week looked like this for my oceanic account: -$110K, +$51K, +$81K, -$42K, +$15K for a small give back of -$6K. I now have acquired 160 dividend increase announcements ytd with the hope of maybe 10 more to gain. This should continue to happen for years going forward.

BT,

I know you don't like junk but what's your feeling on RSH? Are they on life support or do you see any potential answers going forward? (Leadership, business model changes etc.)

Looks like your SDRL is trying to find a bottom in the 11.50 range. I'd be selective on my purchases, just to be sure the floor doesn't drop out again. It may be a dog for a looooonng time.

Days like today hurt so good when you can pick up golden prices. I have a bunch more dividends to reinvest the rest of the week and month.

Yesterday certainly felt one of many terminal velocity panic events wer've previously experienced in the last number of years. Perhaps the worst is over for now.
