Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Seriously, happy birthday Birch. Now you can start DCA with you social security cheques!!! LOL ;):D

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Just what you need when you are middle-aged. A bunch of people showing up all at once reminding you are getting older.

They say 50 is the new 35 and 40 is the new 60.
Lies-all lies.

Happy Birthday.
Fitting; A day after a big correction and plenty of fodder to in which to act contrarian.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I mentioned to the Mrs the other night that the kitchen was on fire and she said let it burn, I'm not moving. Some things do get better with age - anyway especially for her. Thanx everyone for the well wishes. Guchi asked what the significance of the Birchtree was - it's my New Hampshire roots. Today was another day of walkin the talk. I liquidated my position in OI a point from the yearly high - didn't really want to take anymore capital profits but the market put me in an opportunistic position where the sacrifice was small compared to all the golden prices available. Remember, I'm more interested in building an income base and accumulating shares is the way to that end. Believe it or not, capital gains are really secondary - I buy wall flowers and sell beauties when they blossom. Today I bought: SSD, IVZ, EXM, AES, AGU, PCR, CF, AP, AME, MOS, AZZ, CSX, GRA, HBP, BAY, HBI, TRA, CHG, CLC, BEZ, CSS, CMC, CVG, TWIN, GWR, TRN, DRC. So if I'm right I'll sit tight and catch the ride back to 15,600 on the Dow - if I'm wrong I'll keep buying all the way down until I hit water at the bottom of the well. Then I'll try and buy all the way back up. Gotta be strong and recognize that these corrections are painful blessings that will add to my happiness for the next 30 years. I have another beauty that wants to go if this market continues to show no mercy with 15 wall flowers waiting for their turn to join the group of happy campers.

Happy Birthday Birch. Quote from your first post..May 5, 2005

" The goldilocks economy is intact. Now is the time to make preparation for the leg up we dont't know how far it wll go, but who cares for the moment-I just want to be on board for the rocket ride. "

And I hope you will be continually blessed with a very long and high rocket ride.:D

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I ran into some good luck today. My inhouse banker has decided that inorder to keep me quiet and stop my moaning about taking unwanted profits that she will spot me $30K. That way my sales to raise cash for my next buy program will be reduced. Here's hoping we tumble at least another 100 points - I've got the list already drawn up and have no fear in pulling the trigger. My biggest fear is that we have put in a climactic bottom already and may initiate a serious V to the upside not allowing any further golden price buys. I prefer lower pricing but am willing and able to buy on the way up. Regardless, it's cherry picking time.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

As long as the NYAD remains above the longer term 200 day EMA at 1% trend line the market is deemed in bullish mode. The faster and further the market pulses lower, the more stable the price bottom. The 200 day MA for SPX is at 1450 with holding support at 1438. Bring on the pain - this bull is ready to BUY some more golden prices. Snort.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

This is one of those times when your paycheck contributions work out absolutely perfectly with DCA - Monthly deposit hitting at a lowpoint, just like on 1 March. I had every entention of doing more 100% pay contributions during deployment. I sure wish it had been this month. No worry though - I have a feeling I'll get another chance in this market!

I had been toying with the idea of having 100% of my pay contributions go straight to G Fund, and then trying to distribute them from there at a dip. But what the heck, I'll just let 'em do their thing, cause right now they're doing it better then me!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

anthony,

You got the right attitude - just leave it to fate. Just be sure you are right on the longer term trend and then sit tight - DCA is a great redeemer.

I did a little hippity hopping today and enjoyed dumping more spill down the endless and dark rabbit hole. A Dow of 15,000 will be here too soon - but I have no control over destiny. Today I bought: BZH, CTX, DHI, (those housing stocks really stink), JAH, NAVZ, SLI, UDRL, ODC. I think there are about 29 square shooters left on my buy list - cherry picking for the best opportunity. I've got enough accumulation with the shot gun approach. I'll eventually go back and see how much manure I have spread - but I'm sure it's several hundred K. If we do the serious BIG V upside I will probably be bumping my head against the $2M resistance line - but the throw over will lock it in place. Ferdinand liked the drop in the VIX today - hoofing it up right now. I'm making preparation to start my usual in front of the train running exercises. When the S&P 500 stock index fell 6% from its highs in March 2006 - about the amount the stock market has fallen recently, - the VIX nearly hit 21. When the S&P declined about 8% in June of last year, the VIX approached 24. In both instances, volatility soon dropped and stocks rebounded. I think it hit over 23 today before falling better than 3 points. Snort.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Hit me with your best shot - fire away. Looks like I'll be back into the market in the morning picking up some of the wounded. One of my stocks dropped 10 points today so that is definitely on the purchase list. Still no fear here, always like to buy'em when they are on sale. Snort.
