Birchtree's Account Talk

Participating in a little morning weakness to catch a few desirable wall flowers: CLC, EBF, FIG, AGO, PII, RES, HOS, PCL. I think I'll go fish for a few more.

I'm enjoying some date cookies and buying unloved wall flowers: HD, WOR, ACC, AE, POL, AIN. If we can rally I'll step deeper into the warm and steamy bull manure pile.

With the VIX now at 22.53 - 0.66 anything can happen this afternoon. The short covering could come quickly and I'll buy a few more wall flowers if it does.

The small caps are looking stronger and I'm still buying a few more lonesome wall flowers: LNN, BRY, BTE, ANR, HRL, WMK. I've now made 123 individual equity purchases for the month of December - hope I get to do more.

Birch, how many stocks do you own? I think you should have your own Index, the BT300 or something similar, and sell shares like Buffet does.

Good luck and Merry Christmas. I'm long as well (S Fund)

I do own over 300 stocks in my oceanic account and will be adding a new one today - OSG. I'm building the account primarily for income that will make a mortgage payment on my dream lake place. "When all the experts and forecasts agree - something else is going to happen." I just keep buying for the future. Snort.

I get a headache just thinking about owning that many stocks.

No thoughts on AMR and I do my own taxes - that way I know right where my money is located. Currently all my dividends are reinvested and that promotes a self feeding system with money working all the time - even if I'm not active. Remember, money never sleeps. This morning I purchased these sweet wall flowers to go under the Christmas tree: OSG, MDR, LDL, HXL, PCX, RDC, OLN, IVZ. I do have a few more purchases to make if the money continues to flow into my flower pot.

So if you start in January, how many months does it take to complete your taxes?

It takes me generally three weeks and I usually limit my time to three hours worth of work per day when I start. And I usually add a mistake in my favor in case of an IRS tax audit.

So 63 hours to do your taxes. Wow. I thought 8 hours or so was bad. You really do re-define the definition of "diversified portfolio". :)

Birchtree, can you explain why the I fund gives us half the gains and all the losses? I cannot figure it out. We have to IFT by 1200 eastern, but we get paid based on the prices in the evening (4 or 5 hours after europe closes) I am moving back to the S fund and will probably not buy the I fund anymore, because the pricing just doesn't make sense to me, but I would like your take on it.
PS sorry for htjacking your thread.
