Birchtree's Account Talk

It's possible that old stinky BP will be pushing $44 today. I have a sweet profit in this stock because of my buying characteristics and plan to buy more over time. My daughter is a contract employee for them as a project manager and has nothing negative to say at this point in time. Here are my buys: $45.46, $36.99, 31.64, 29.91, 29.73, 27.36, 33.14, 36.02, 37.01, 38.01, 39.48, 40.16, 41.05, 38.32, 42.25, 43.33. All one has to do is stayed disciplined.

I think I may buy a few banks today.

The VIX looks active at 17.33 down 0.44. The Dow is slow to gain but will eventually. I bought my banks: BAC, STI, BCS, FHN. The R2K is showing outperformance.

Tractor has moved 100% S and all the time I have been here he has been a 100% I guy.

Gotta take this as an omen of some kind

Maybe its time to make a move and a dip isnt eminent. ?

If I had a normal sense of fear of taphophobia I would not be loading up the S fund right now. But then that's what I need to see inorder to make tracker motion.

Love ya birch. Had to look up another one of your words and then I laughed at how perfect a choice it was. Thanks for the smile!

Currently my oceanic account is up $28K on the week and I'd gladly scarifice those gains for one solid rough and tumble smack down day to help out my tracker standing. The S fund will take the most damage. Santa won't you bring me some pain real soon? Let's plow some of that excess S fund traffic out of the way to clear the lanes.

Picking up a few choice morsels on weakness: EXP, GMT, TEX, LDL. So many to buy and so few dollars to do it with. I've made 141 individual purchases since 7/31/10 and I'm way behind schedule.

To me the I fund is safer than the S fund. I want emerging growth participation and the I fund will hopefuly provide that with their large cap companies. I'm being patient and waiting for the market to come to me.

Its interesting that u have put so much in the I and none in the S. Lots of others are the opposite.

I have been in the I fund with a 90% fund balance and 10% in the L2040 with a 50/50 split contribution to both. i have not made any transfers in more than 3 yrs. I have seen and rode the ups and downs and for the most part satisfied at this point. steady accumulating shares waiting for things to take off. Any suggestions on bettering this strategy? When they went to the 2 IFT thats when I stuck to this approach.comments from the MB would be greatly appreciated , just tryn to get an affirmation or any negative responses as well.
thanks
john

There is an end of year phenomenon where institutional investors shift out of small caps and into large caps. Birchtree is attempting to avoid the traditional under performance of the small caps.

GUCHI,

I think you are on the money with an excellent strategy to accumulate shares - dollar cost averaging is the redeemer of all portfolios. Slow and steady wins the race in most fiduciary type stock accounts. Unfortunately, this bull will not provide much weakness for the next couple of years - but just keep on buying your way to happiness.

GE just increased their dividend - that's nice.

Good piece of information, JTH. Helps to understand how the institutional guys operate seasonally. Birch doesn't always share full details on his decisionmaking process. (not that he has to, but its nice when he does).

Thats why the Snorter is around 15% and the leaders are pushing 30%.

Not that I have room to talk mind you, just observing.
