Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

We should all give recognition to our soldiers and veterans that are still serving in uniform. I would like to relate an experience when my daughter was a young lady in Army ROTC. We were in a restaurant one evening when I noticed a young 101st Airborne soldier eating with his parents and I decided to pay for his meal. I sent word by the waitress that I was to get the tab - when we made eye contact he smiled and said thankyou. I mouthed Airborne and he mouthed back all the way. What's interesting about this experience is that my daughter was totally indignant fearing that I was going to embarrass the young man. She now understands because people have on occasion given her recognition when she travels in uniform and what goes around comes around. It never hurts to show how grateful and appreciative we are as a society.

Good Morning Birch,
This is probably the most beautiful post I've seen from you. It's amazing how Religious you really are deep down inside. This is Religion at it's best Birch; it's not the empty rituals and the endless services the church finds for you to do; IT IS A HEART THAT YEARNS TO SHOW LOVE AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS. WHEN YOU SAW THIS YOUNG MAN WITH HIS FAMILY - YOU WERE MOVED TO DO WHAT YOU DID; IT WAS ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS WHERE COMPASSION TAKES SUCH AN ENORMOUS HOLD THAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE IN; YOU WANT TO GIVE IN; AND IT'S SUCH AN AMAZING HONOR AND A HUGE BLESSING TO EXPERIENCE THESE KIND OF EVENTS. THIS IS THE BOTTOMLINE BIRCH - WE CAN LIVE EMPTY LIVES (FILLED WITH SELF INTERESTES) OR WE CAN LIVE FULL LIVES BY EXTENDING OURSELVES TO OTHERS. It's a beautiful testimony - THANK YOU!!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I never got that myself as a Vietnam Veteran but that doesn't matter .

Birch - It matters a lot - a whole lot. Even though I dedicated this story to someone with an incredibly strong military background and who shares with me 'the huge desperation of change' needed to get this country right; this part was totally for you and every Vietnam Veteran out there.

So if I could make any wish come true - this is where it would start.

Forgive me, not to downplay you and the other Vietnam Veterans, but right now (if I could make changes) I would start by Granting the $700 Billion Deal (with Total Amnesty) to turn the Economy around. In my deal the Amnesty would serve as a cover to let normal operations resume. Then I would gather them up ONE BY ONE - completely expose them to the population and make it very clear that 'Their Crimes are everybit as serious as the worse of Crimes the less powerful get life sentences for' and ONE BY ONE they would all go down.

THEN I would proceed with the Vietnam Veterans as shown above.

***********************************************************

I want you to know in Real Life - I make the Vietnam Veterans my highest priority. Chiefs have asked me to devide these veterans to various psychiatrists BUT THEY REFUSE TO GO TO ANYONE ELSE. We share a whole lot in common and I've been able to let them resume life without dreams/nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, or overwhelming anxiety and depression. More than anything else it's the way I connect that makes all things possible.

Excellent first post STV.

Right on.... The truth will come to light what has led to this debacle. This is just one example. Both parties are not blameless. Legislation should be scrutinized thoroughly......Shameful!!

Hummm... I wouldn't think Birch would be MIA on a day like today???

I was looking forward to seeing what he had to say.

They had him 'over the barrel' all day long so he might be having a hard time standing up. Not to mention sitting down at the PC. :embarrest:

Nay, he is just out back digging up those jars of money out of the yard. More buying power.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Let's put this in perspective.

A buy & Holder who bought shares in October 2005 gains nothing over the next three years (today.)

But when your old like Birch and remember the great depression because you lived through it, then this is nothing more then a hiccup. :p

I hear you on the glass 1/2 full logic. Not sure I would want to be down 50k at this point so I could throw another 50k in looking for the bottom. But I know he is in good position to take the risk.

Maybe his wife found out he had been buying and put him out of her misery. ;)

Just kiddin Birch. Hopefully your buys will be profitable in the not too distant future.

 ouch

Maybe his wife found out he had been buying and put him out of her misery. ;)

 The "loans" he's been touting were really done in secret. She got the bank statement today and they had a long talk. Meanwhile, he couldn't wait till the conversation was over so he hurry up and have a bake sale to buy all these cheap shares.

And on to Birch... Where have you really been?? I've been looking forward to your cheering all day. I've been very excited about these huge price drops. At work, I've heard people say to keep your money under your mattress!! Perfect bottoming language.

Oh well, He's happy to get Lower Prices all the time...

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I was actually out of town yesterday but when I got an opportunity to check the market when it was down over 700 points the first time I could feel my cheeks tighten up but there was no hint of panic or fear in my thinking. Thanks everyone for your kind comments but I'm just fine. I've always thought it would be nice to at some point to make $100K in a week - but instead I give back $119K in one day. I picked my portfolio and it's a keeper no matter what happens in Washington because value will percolate to the top and a raucus rally is on the way because the bottom just arrived. I'm going to sit tight for now and let my dividends do the heavy lifting but I am doing some buying for clients. I wished that Wachovia would have survived intact but I got plenty more bank holdings and we'll see who survives. But I'm going to hold my Wachovia because they still own their brockerage business and an asset management firm.

Thanks for the visualization

For some reason I thought of you when I read about these women who refused to be locked into the "teacher and nurse" mentality. Who determined that their goals were limited by only their potiential and determination. Who knew if given the opportunity - and the ability to find that opportunity - they could prove themselves.

You must of purchased Hessionnite garnetts. There are so many different types and colors of garnets it sometimes gets confusing. Sounds like you should look for a Rhodolite Garnet which is red with flashes of pinkish/purple tones. Of course, it won't be near as expensive as rubies, but can look almost the same to a causual observer. As for the pearls, if you are talking about spending a fortune, try southsea pearls. If not, Akoya pearls are a great quality and value, but not as expensive.

I'd go with spinel. Some of the crown jewels are actually spinel that were mistaken for rubies. The only quick way to tell spinel from a ruby is the see if it is single or double refractive. Spinel, CZs and a few other stone are single refractive (IE. they don't split the light wave)

Spinels can get very expensive, but you are right they were mistaken for rubies. Not sure if many local jewelers carry them tho. I used to buy them inexpensively from overseas, now you can find them on ebay. There is a vendor from Sri Lanka(I think) on ebay that is very reputable. I think I can find his store if anyone is interested.

The best vendor I ever had was from Thailand. He restructured and was bought out. Don't get good deals from him like I used to. Who is the vendor?
