Gee that G-Fund is feeling a little bit cozy now. Just thought I would tell all that I'm getting closer to the "DAY" so I'll probably get more conservative in my IFT'sunless I see different. Think I'll stay warm in front of the fire for a couple of days.

I am going to call the TSP Gods tomorrow and ask them why the G fund pay out is not picking up thepace.

Should be a ripper. :^

DMA,

You would be wiser to call Bambi and get some prescient advise. I think her views tend to be similar to biggdog1's views or perhaps those are her views.

Birch when you're short-timing like me there's no "cents" in giving money back :*. I do like you're "tude" about investing butI think I'll hold off a little until I see $$$ in the next 8 months. You lost almosthalf of what I own in TSP last week, but I'm Civil Service and my TSP account is going for aPAID IN FULL motorhome :^when I retire. Maybe I'll stop by for a visit next May :i.

Spaf, I'm already eligible but the USPS is giving us a HUGE 1.6% increase in March06. I thought I'd wait til May01-06, I'll have 37 years (70.5%). MyTSP account is extra. Like I told Birch, things look iffy right now andI don't see just giving $$$ back. I can afford to wait. LOL in July, maybe I'll drop by and we can both visit Birch.

I had a lot of friends in 2002 that were retired and how to go back to work.

Very sad. :(

One friend was 67 years old did not know anything about tech (did not even have a computer). Had 85% of her networth in the Scudder Tech Fund. Lost 84% in 19 month. Another 10% in PBHG Tech Fund and lost 72% and the rest in that group of Colorado that went bankrupt can not remember their name Midcap Growth Fund and lost 91%.

She hit a home run - the wrong way.:shock::shock: She refinanced her house on the recommendation by Suze "Shrill" Orman (or whatever that hack name is) and bought tech stocks in April 2000.

Fortunately, I doubt seriously that Orman would go any where close to making any such recommendation. She is not that type of girl - rather conservative in her financial approach. This however would be a suggestion right up the alley of a young inexperienced male looking for a quick dollar.

The Dow futures were up 48 points this morning. The Nikkei 225 was up 197 points.

All other futures were also up - something is happening. Suspect you will make money today and you will only wish the rest of them bones were working. There is nothing wrong in buying on the way up - it's actually easier because you lock in the profit as you move up. Not to sound alarmist - but we might be looking at a runaway bull situation. That would be great from my perspective.

Unleaded regular went to $2.69 a gallon here in Derbytown ( :}up .30 in one day ! :@). I'm thinking about buying myself a three hump camel to ride. Still holden' 50/50 G & C.

Someone must have gave me some bad kibble. Lost all my profits for the month of August in one day:@. Think I'll hold out for the early weeks returns/losses before I make a change. I've got Jury Duty for the next two weeks ( Burn the witch ), so I might not have much to add. LOL to everyone.

Biggdog1,

May I suggest you take 10% of that G fund money and buy yourself some more of that undervalued C fund. The price of $13.15 is great and just maybe you can spend another 10% of the G fund if the C fund drops under $13.00. Buy'em cheap and only sell when ....

Dennis that's whyI wanted to wait until I see what's going to happen this week. I just increased my catch-up allotment to almost the max. I think that price of oil is now really starting to hit this market. It won't bother me if the S & P only goes up:}1 or 2 points a day as long as it stays on the plus side for the week. I figure all I have to do is earn better than .37% ( G-Fund ) per month. If I could manage only a 1% gain per month I'll be in DOG HEAVEN :^. Loadem up partner ! ! !

Are you dollar cost averaging your contributions into the C fund 100% - that's the only way to build up a substantial position. Let your auto-pilot do the timing for you- buy'em when they are down - buy'em when they are up. DaveM has started doing that maneuver and it's working for him - read his latest account talk. Next year you can dollar cost average $20,000 plus a match. Now that will add up fast, especially every two weeks. The only problem is you will be paying higher and higher prices.

I'm sorry, I just remembered you are retiring - sure you can't stay another year or two to collect some of the bountiful dollars? Well, even in retirement you can remain active in TSP and continue to shift funds to take opportunity of the dynamics of the market. Keep the gains tax deferred as long as possible.

I'd love to go for the 80% but I don't believe my health will last that long. Am I mistaken in believing that once you take monies out of your TSP ( annuities ) that it all goes in the G-Fund. If it does you can't trade anymore, you just have to take .09% every 8-10 days.
