I was stationed in Bremerton Washington for three years and really enjoyed it, but a little too much rain… I was thinking of checking out New Zealand unless they have a huge out of control deficit like the USA…:cool:
 
I love Vancouver - when the sun is out. I don't think I could survive the winter. You aren't considered to be a resident of Vancouver until you get through the dark days. After all, the cruise lines to the Arctic and Alaska start from there, it gets coooollllldddd.

New Zealand was fun, nice people. But if you don't like tree huggers, that's not the place to go. They have some of the toughest anti-nuke and fishing ban legislation around. Plus, they are really soft spoken, and well, really proud, I felt too...American when I went.

New Zealand is a great place to go...the more you know the more you'd realize it's probably the greatest place to be. Don't go to visit for just a few days; but go with a thrist to find the perfect community - go with an open mind thristing for an atmosphere in which you'd love to settle into and never have to leave.

BTW - I know what you mean - as far as feeling too American. To honestly blend with their culture and fully absorp their mentality you'd have to lose the American Mindset.
 
I spent a week in Perth Australia and would gladly move there too. They have a high standard of living and they have a free spirit. I just want a place with enough property for a small runway. I know the locals really don’t like Kangaroo’s. I could spend the day buzzing them.:cool::cool:

Euro Drops Versus Dollar After Trichet Says Growth Is Weakening

Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The euro fell to a 13-month low against the dollar after European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said economic activity in the region is ``weakening.''
The European single currency slid for a fourth day as Trichet said recent data suggests there are ``increased downside risks.'' The ECB kept its main rate at 4.25 percent today, a seven-year high. The decision was predicted by all 58 economists surveyed by Bloomberg.
``There are significant issues over the weakness in the eurozone economy that need to be addressed,'' said Simon Derrick, chief currency strategist in London at Bank of New York Mellon Corp.
The euro declined to $1.3824 at 1:37 p.m. in London, from $1.4009 yesterday in New York. It touched $1.3793, the weakest level since Sept. 11, 2007. The euro also fell to 145.76 yen, from 148.11 yen, reaching 145.56, the lowest level since July 11, 2006. The U.S. currency traded at 105.58 yen from 105.71 yen.
The U.S. currency rose against 15 of its 16 most-actively traded peers as demand for dollar funding increased amid the seizure in the money markets. The dollar also advanced after the Senate approved a $700 billion bank-rescue bill, bolstering expectations the U.S. will act faster than Europe to address the credit squeeze.
 
You might want to wait a little while. The Optamism of the Deal Passing will undoubted spark global enthuiasm.

The European Union is presently undergoing the same mess we are just largely resolving. Last night the data reflected many of their banks going down and many of their countries undergoing a situation that was even worse than what the US faced. They are just getting to the PEAK of their problems and if ONE COUNTRY (Germany) refuses to pass their Bail Out - the deal is nixed.

As a result of this - I'm also thinking of switching to I FUND - but I anticapate them to take a much larger dive in the near future.
 
It looks like they found Steve Fossett’s airplane, but no body at this time. After looking at the pics, I would assume he didn’t survive the crash and it appears no fire. He was only about 90 miles from his takeoff point. Steve was an outstanding pilot and now the FAA can examine the airplane and try and figure out what happened. I’m just happy his wife and family will have some closure…

I have driven my BMW motorcycle in that Mammoth Lake California (crash site area) which is not too far from the eastern entrance of Yosemite. I rode though some hail at the highest elevation and that was in August!!! I couldn’t believe it at the time. Yosemite is the most spectacular place I have ever driven through on my bike and I loved it.:cool::cool:

The local Los Angeles news agencies are reporting AIG executives were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars just days after receiving tax payer bailout money at an expensive resort. Wall Street just doesn’t get it. It’s as if they are being rewarded for rapping their investors and now tax payers. When I watch CEO’s from Lehman Brothers and AIG I was thinking man, these characters look so familiar. Then it hit me, oh yeah, Al Capone. There is absolutely no difference except Capone was sent to Federal prison. They say history has a tendency of repeating itself, so let’s hope that comes true…:cool::cool:
 
Ok, FBI! These guys are so obvious, grab 'em quick and you can get more information on the inside deals. Squeal like a pig! :p Just like the mob, it's easiest to squeeze the ones who know they have been found out.
 
After watching the Obama “Spread the Wealth” comments, I found this definition on Wikipedia… I now understand Obama’s economic policy. :cool::cool:

After reading this article on Bloomberg, maybe Obama’s plan for Socialism is correct? Back in the 1920’s and 1930’s, the idea was tossed around… Only a big government that controls everything in your life is the solution? I don’t agree with this, but it’s pretty clear Merrill Lynch doesn’t have a clue about the long term consequences for their greed, but they will someday…:cool::cool:

Guess that shows how fed up America is/was over the way this great country has been run into the ground over the last 8 yrs. That we weren't willing to risk another 4 yrs of status quo.
 
Regardless who we voted for we all need to stand behind Obama and the Congress and Senate. We all have to work hard to remind our politicians who the represent, US. In my opinion 3 things need to happen. Obama needs to focus on the economy, repairing our foreign relations and getting our troops out of Iraq.
