Ask James48843

I believe that when people immigrate....the parents know and the kids are told by their parents that it is their one chance to get ahead! They don't want to go back from where they came from...their country. So they work like dogs to get ahead and usually do! People, kids etc in the US are mostly spoiled, and in many cases think that they can just get by...so they may not try as hard. They may tend to rely more on their parents for support....or loans. If kids especially saw what life was like in poor countries...they would appreciate what they have more....and wouldn't expect so much. What gets me...is that I hear now...in the US people celebrate "graduating from Kindergarten" really! I didn't know you could flunk Kingergarten....too much baby baby...and it should just be assumed the kid could get thru it. It is a mistake to spoil children...then they believe everyone will spoil them....don't turn them into a bunch of babies.....expecting everything from everybody!

You've GOT to be kidding me, right ??? How insane a question !

After all the Reverend Wright videos et al, you still want to lambaste President Obama ?

Get a clue.

HB,

I don't understand your comments. Are you saying that Rev Wright sided with one in a video?

Let's wait. Maybe James knows which Muslim sect BHO is in.

James48843 - I've always had a problem with authority. For what it's worth, I'm for smaller/less Government.

Why do so many people (both on the left and the right) do their best to use the police power of Government to further their agenda?

Hey Jim...

Why do they put Braille Buttons on drive through ATMs ?:cheesy:

You ask, so here is the answer:

Because the seeing eye dog can't be expected to drive AND do the ATM at the same time.

James48843 - What weekly news magazine should I subscribe to? Time? News Week? US News and World Report? Other?

Whatever magazines you find interesting.

Personally, I get Time and Newsweek, and a couple others. Good deals, too-I had one of those "Subscribe and get 52 weeks for just $1 a week" deals not long ago.

Whatever magazines you can learn from and stimulate thinking help.

Here is a link to a variety of magazines:
http://www.world-newspapers.com/news-magazine.html

Lean left or lean right, there is something there for everyone to learn more about.

And, of course, Reader's Digest is always a favorite to keep around.

Your choice is just that- yours.

Have you noticed most of the kids who are competing in Spelling Bee and Geography Bee championships come from newly immigrated or homeschooling families? You will find the same profile at Ivy League universities. Why does it happen?

Good question. I don't know.
