Sending the car to a crusher means to crush the shell. It does not mean that the shell has to go to the crusher with ALL its various parts.

The engine must be destroyed. All removable parts can be removed from the body for recycling. The remaining unibody shell is sent to the crusher.

We already said the CNN report is wrong- is not accurate. There is the actual federal register rule - any parts, with the exception of the engine block, and a complete drive train, can be reused-resold. The drive train can be sold only if it is disassembled. But yes, all those parts- the doors, the hood, the seats, the air bags, everything- CAN legally be sold.

the CNN video report is wrong.

Senate reaches deal on $2B 'clunkers' refill

If the Senate approves the additional money, it's likely to lead automakers to increase production and bring back laid-off workers. Many automakers reported low inventories due to increased sales from the program at the end of July. Already Hyundai Motor Co. has added a day of production to its Montgomery, Ala., plant, and Ford is considering increases.

James, What do you think about how Mrs. Clinton answered this student's question?
She should have composed herself better. I'm surprised she didn't say something like: "My husband and I haven't discussed this particular matter, but President Obama and I have and we agree that..."

Maybe, right at that moment, she had a picture in her mind of Billy in an airplane with two beautiful, young, and VERY grateful Asian-American women all to himself for fourteen hours and she just went ballistic!:D
