Someone used to post these closing numbers with the % gain or loss by 7:30. I don't know where they got the information, but it was quite useful. Different funds make or lose different amounts each day, but it is easier to calculate your daily balance with the %centages. Does someone know how to get that info early on?
That was Ebb. I believe he called in to the TSP phone line, which has the numbers before the update on the web page.
Ebb has disappeared from this thread since his tracker went private!

You're welcome, airlift. The igoogle gadget description says it usually updates by 8:00 PM est, each day. Mine updated today just after 7:00 PM (central time).

Dennis, I kind of did this on the fly without a calculator.... it's close but not 100% accurate as you can/will see.... if you wait until around 7:00pm , somebody will post the exact returns -- so it's all good. I guess I could start a "best guess" thread but 350z has a real good thread going here that we're all comfortable with and they're way better at the fv than I am

One can alwasy call the Thriftline and get the "real" numbers right around 7pm eastern time. I've done it a couple times myself. The only times I've seen it where they didn't have the phone data updated then is a few times when we've had major market swings and FV's involved. then, it's been as much as an hour late.
But the phone line always seem to be updated before the TSP website is done.

By the way- I did an interfund trasnfer yesterday at 11:59 am, and it appears that the trade DID NOT make it through.
today my balance still shows allocations as if I had not made the trade, and I did not get an e-mail last night for trade confirmation.

At this point, no. But I'll reserve that decision til the deadline approaches. Who knows, 12% may pop up in a few minutes telling us the Dow will gain 250 points today, and if he does I sure won't doubt his prediction.:blink::toung::laugh:- Status
