European Central Bank Policy Meeting, Bank of England Policy Meeting on tap. Thursday will be the release of the BoE and ECB policy.

Anyone have a opinion?
From everything I have read, they are saying that there is a better than not chance that they will increase the ECB rates this time since they have increased inflation. They probably would have last time had not Ben cut our rate.

OK History buffs, is this true?

``The dollar is no lower today than it was in 1997,'' Rosenberg wrote in a Nov. 2 research note. ``We don't remember that being a particular Armageddon-type time period.''

The falling dollar isn't cause for alarm, according to David Rosenberg, chief North American economist at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York.

If that was true, the Canadian Dollar wouldn't be worth more than ours!

He is right if you consider the dollar averaged against all currencies. But if you look at the dollar against major currencies, we are a good deal lower.

Here are the weighted dollar index values (against major currencies) for the past few days:

31-OCT-07 72.6281
1-NOV-07 72.6561
2-NOV-07 72.2171
5-NOV-07 72.1612

Here are the weighted dollar index values (against major currencies) for the lowest days in 1997:
2-JAN-97 88.7042
3-JAN-97 89.2399
6-JAN-97 89.1699
7-JAN-97 88.7306

I got the numbers here:

You can find more ways to look at the dollar here:
