350Z's I Fund Thread JAN 08

I was expecting a rally today. Its not over yet.

Looks like everybody(stocks, bonds, and currency markets) is expecting Bernake to be nice this afternoon, with the exception of tech.

Most store sales were terrible except for Walmart. What does that tell you? Recession?:D

BOE holding rates steady was a surprise to me. If helicopter Ben gives his basic usual BS without throwing the markets a bone, we will see August lows again. Which means there might be a big -FV. (I hope Barclay is not reading this post:rolleyes:).

Anybody willing to take a chance on a big -FV today? With Japan down 1.75% last night, they might open lower tonight but I see them rebounding in their second half. The Europeans are also way oversold.

What happened to the +FV we should have seen yesterday that didn't get posted..so should get posted today? They are NOT following what the TSP says by sitting on this at their whim. Don't post your estimate 350! :D

I'm such an idiot!:o:ban:

FVs don't work that way. What was done or not done is now over with. The I fund started off clean today.

I can see Barclay looking at the volume of transactions submitted at noon and withholding applying a +FV at the end of the day. e.g. Yesterday there was a significant number of TSPeers moving out of the I-Fund. No FV was given when there should have been one.

I am not sure how posting the estimate can alter their decision. On the same token if at 3:30 or at 4:00 pm 350z posts an FV estimate, what difference does it make? It is already past noon and there is nothing we can do with that information, except to feel good about it until it officially posted at the TSP website.

Just for my own peace of mind, help me understand.

Good luck to all!

It might alter their decision because they might not want anybody guessing their FVs correctly. I agree that with our deadline, it doesn't make any sense. But we are dealing with a lot of money so, anything is possible. It's just one of my ideas.

The other idea, like the one you pointed out, is definitely a possibility. I've mentioned numerous times that they might be watching our IFTs pertaining to the I fund. So, all I'm saying is that maybe we temporary stop posting FV estimates for a little bit. I just want to see want happens.

If the Feds were ready and willing to cut, what are they waiting for? Store sales sucked this morning. Unemployment up to 5% or worst.

Why is the Nasdaq negative again?

And why is the carry trade not happy?

I know why....Ben Bernanke is an IDIOT!!!!!

That's what a guy on CNBC just said. Great minds. :)

Looks like some folks are using this rally to unload. I think Ben got used by Wall Street.

Besides, it got leaked, then was released well before the schedule time. Where is SEC??? Remember yesterday's bounce?

If we close red despite all this, look out below....

I'd be willing to sell into the rally. Naturally I can't given our deadline and all :toung:

BAC talking to buy CFC... man, lots of balls to juggle in the market lately.

The was the plan from the beginning. Shouldn't really be good news. It means that CFC was really on the verge of BK! Remember CFC's stock price when BAC first injected money into CFC, with the deal that they get first dibs? CFC as at $5 yesterday.

First Bernanke and now this. They are trying hard to save this market.
