I was going to say the same thing. How low will the dollar go? It is at multi-year low right now. I think the last time we got this low the Fed started raising rates which boosted the dollar. I think the S&P will begin to benefit as those large staple companies are able to sell more overseas... oops, I think I just had a birch moment...

If the dollar begins to climb, what is the best fund in which to have my money?

It is relative...

Even if the dollar climbs, the OSMs may do very well and still produce superior returns. And, a rising dollar could damage our ability to export, thus restricting the USM and putting downward pressure on the C&S funds.

Of course, there are varied and myriad factors to be considered as well, along with endless purmutations and eventualities.

There is not a simple answer to this question, other than in general a falling USD supports the I fund, and conversely a rising USD inhibits it.

Best of luck... :)

Unbelievable.
Even after it looked like we gave it all back in the last 20 minutes, it still managed a positive finish if the +.03 holds up. Must've been an FV adjustment due to the dollar getting beaten up. I'm felling like we're ripe for some profit taking or at least some sideways motion soon.

I fund price cutoff is 12PM. That's why we got our 3 cents. There was not enough movement down to trigger a -FV. Some have stated they think a FV occurs after a 0.5% movement. I'm sure tomorrow morning the I fund starts down some value. You'll have to ask others what that value will be. I do not use the spreadsheet. Sorry

Thanks.
I didn't know about the 12 o'clock cut off.
Looking at the day chart, it appears that the fund was down at that time (79.40 vs. 79.50), and it was higher at 4 than at 12. Either way, I'm still pleased.

Well, we have the difference between the EFA Yahoo chart and the actual results that come out at around 15:00 from MSCI. You can't use the EFA chart for today. This has been explained many times on the board. Overseas markets close at different times around the world. The last ones are in Europe and that is 12:00 EDT. Morgan Stanley calculates the actual returns sometime around 15:00 EDT. Then we may have to deal with a Fair Value (search the MB for that one, it gets involved), but results are adjusted again before it is posted on the TSP.gov site about 7PM. Don't pay any attention to the EFA numbers, I watch the overseas markets on let's say CNN Business during the day and at night for that matter. Like now Japan and Australia are open and losing, for tomorrow.

I know it's too late but I didn't know Jayhawk wasn't going to post the estimate today.

Any way, it should be down .63%
