Staying Put In I

http://money.cnn.com/2007/03/02/new...conomy.watanabe2.reut/?postversion=2007030209 I understand that people think when something falls and keeping falling,it is like trying to catch a falling knife. But based on my DDing and reading, I feel everything is a tad overblown and investors will come back. Panic causes people to step aside,I respect that. Based on Greenspan and the Yen , these were excuses to take profits. Also, when you see talkingheads turn up on CNBC talking negative...you know it is time to buy. Gl

I like the market like this, I am always adding to the funds when the market is ggoing down. Pretty soon I will start taking away from the C fund and add it to the S and I.
Right now I am
3/2
C FUND 18%
S FUND 38%
I FUND 38%
G FUND 6%

Heres the updated I fund lookup spreadsheet. Just hit the "Get Data" button and it will harvest the appropriate data points from the world markets and dollar index to compute the change in the I fund price. (Rod thanks for the yahoo's DX index symbol!)

(FYI. You have to enable macros for the spreadsheet to work. If you dont, it wont work. If you arent given the option, Go to Tools menu-->Macros menu-->Security menu-->Select Medium. Close the spreadsheet and open it again. When prompted select "Enable Macros.")

Let me know if you have any problems and Ill try to help you out...

I agree but they are not likely to jump back in with both feet and guns blazing. They may stick a toe in first. There is time to see the blood loss stop. (I sure wish my fingers listened to my head more and my heart less...) :toung:

Is this accurate chemeng ? Are we only down about 5 or 6 pennies in the I fund ? Is there anything missing that I am not seeing.
Thanks

You probably ran it after our noon cutoff when the dollar dropped 3 or 4 cents.

Last estimate from 350z was -.09 cents for I-fund. :)

I would say its about 85% right. There are 3 caviats to it though:

1. The base I fund price is determined at 12PM EST. Run the spreadsheet at noon and it will output the base price. Market conditions that occur after 12PM are not incorporated into the I fund's base price.
2. It does not calculate +/-FV days. So on days where the USM or dollar index have significant gains or losses, it wont incorporate those. (There is some very good education on how Fair Value is applied here though.)
3. There is debate about a fudge factor that may need be applied. Occassionally on days without a FV, the price will be off by +/-1 cent.

The reason the drop doesnt seem as low as you would expect is because many of the OSMs are closed now and have not been able to respond to this afternoon's sell-off. We are well into a -FV scenario for I fund price today. My guess would be >20 cents. 350z can give much better experience with estimates on FVs than I can. Any ideas how bad it will be 350z?

What the hell just happened? Who opened up their big mouth? Wait, I know the answer. The Yen rose again. Folks, look out below.

Sometimes I pop on in the wee hours of the morn. Cant sleep sometimes for what ever reason. I was on the past few morns and saw far more than usual online at those times. So I guess others are loosing sleep like me as well huh?? I bailed to the F today. Looks like I am about (1.5%) since Jan 1st. I am sure glad I did well at the end of 2006 so my confidence in trading is not yet broken. Even though I label myself a trader, all the DCA buy and holders gotta be taking the hits with me.
