Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

That's what I'm thinking. I'm hesitant to go 100% I for Monday and Tuesday. Dollar may be heading up, OSMs are due for some profit taking, and OSM may not react well if the USM drops significantly today. With a 30-70% chance that the G penny will pay on Tuesday...maybe I will just stay in G for a bit longer. :suspicious:

... another timing concern could be how fast the DX approaches the 50 day MA, if it spikes later today and then again Monday AM and approaches that 50 day MA it could act as resistance we could see the DX fall again maybe as soon as Monday on the intraday chart. Potentially a FV play? Probably too many "what ifs" to make an educated guess :)

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Any of you know will we be able to do an IFT into "I" on Monday so we can be in the "I" on Tuesday since the regular US markets are closed. I tend to think it will drop on Monday but pop back up a little on Tues.

From TSP.gov

February 20th - The stock and bond markets will be closed on Monday, February 19th, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. Consequently, the Thrift Savings Plan will also be closed. Transactions that would have been processed Monday night (February 19th) will be processed Tuesday night (February 20th), at Tuesday's closing share prices

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Thanks frokker, so I guess you would have to risk the drop being less than the expected gain if you wanted to be in it and make the IFT today.

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Tough Call:
The National cold snap will move out by Monday, which could impact Energy prices to the down side; a negative for the I Fund.

Gold is reversing course to the upside while the dollar falls.
Both boad well for the I Fund.

Three years running, the I posted positive numbers after Presidents Day.

Camping out in the G for now and will probably stay there.

Just wondering here. Since I am new to all this IFT stuff. If I wanted to be in a different fund than I am in now for Tuesday, would I have had to done an IFT today before noon? Since I haven't been involved doing this in and around a Holiday, I just want to get it straight in the Brain Cells. LOL

Thanks for any info with this matter

Yes, you are correct. Any IFT request made after the noon deadline will be transacted at the end of the next trading day. In this case, the next trading day is Tuesday (market being closed on Monday for a fed holiday). If the IFT request was made before noon today (EST), the IFT would have taken place tonight.

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Thanks SkyPilot...........Got it. Good that I got this question cleared up then. I didn't want to do a possible IFT during the weekend and then find all this out. I'll just stay in the G fund now and see what transpires Tuesday. Always a continuous education with all this.

Thanks again for your help.

;) Upward pressure on call rates will remain until Wednesday's rate decision even with the BOJ's funding operations, as a 25 basis point rate hike would double the cost to borrowers, money market traders said.
Market views were equally split on chances of the BOJ boosting interest rates to 0.50 percent next week, with a Reuters poll of market players on Thursday showing 24 out of 49 respondents expect a rate hike.
The BOJ board voted 6-3 in favour of keeping policy unchanged last month, a shift from its unanimous decision in December to keep rates steady and the first time such a close split vote has happened since a meeting in October 2003.
