I am not doing well. I may have to join TSPKey for guidance. I can't depend on anyone here for guidance because most everyone is into the competition thing and waits to noon to post.

You seem to be doing decent to me, GG.

If I have access to a computer, I want as much info as possible before I jump. I've been trying to post and tell people my thoughts before noon so if you are looking you should have a pretty good idea what I'm looking at. The board has still been slow around noon. I guess it is all the people watching. I probably should do like TSPgo and make my decidion the night before, but there is just something about the feel of which way the market is headed.

Huge sell-off across the board. Cheney was the target in a bomb attack.

Nikkei down a half percent, CAC, DAX, FSTE all tanking big today.

Blood red on the "I" fund.

Seems like the Asian market were a little more reserved with their pullback. Will they continue down tonight based on the action in the EZ? Tough call all around.

Bears have been looking for an excuse to tip the scales down. Could this be it or will the Bulls step up and buy the dip once again?

Obviously we could be in for a bit of volatility today with Greenspan and the V.P. things, but will the market shrug it off and pick back up like it has done so many times before or is the overboughtness of the market going to scare the Bulls this time?

I'm thinking this could be a 3-5% pull back. Lots of geo-political reasons and oil keeps inching higher.

ATF Jeff is right. This looks like the tank to me. I'm pulling the plug to lilly pad today.

The floor on resistance looks to be about 8% lower in the "I" fund, not 3 to 5 by my charts.

And this is then the problem... is this a one or two day consolidation?

To jump out now may lock in the losses.

Do broader market indicators line up with a one or two day loss?

I will probably ride this out with the belief that this is a substantial blip, and too late to avoid a pothole.

Remember back in May the downturn was ~11 trading days long! I think I'll sit this one out. I got lucky by being in the F fund this morning.

Exhilarating, ain't it!

I rode it all the way down last year as well, but ended up 7% above my yearly goal... and still haunted by how well I would have done if I had jumped out.

For those already on the pad, my hat is off to you!

I'm with ATCJeff on this one. I was out of the market in May when the decline started. I jumped back in too soon. I jumped right back out of the market and managed to save myself a couple of percent. The market rarely does V's.

Rod the reason you got burned as bad as you did is because you stayed in G-fund for so long. You could have gotten back into the market weeks later and still recaptured almost all of the losses. The difference is in whether you are looking long or short term. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but is is a matter of perspective.

If I was in the market today, I'd probably bail out short term and look to get back in the market at the first sign of support.

To me there are at two things to do. Get out quick, get back in when it's clearly over or stay in and wait until it's over. I prefer the first option. We never know how long a down trend will last, nobody knows. Don't get back in too soon or dropout too late and miss the recoil. WHIPSAW is a NASTY thing!

It looks to me like a "perfect storm" kinda thing today. Durable goods # with Shanghai market drop with a little Greenspan coming in from the South to create it. We opened down but are holding there. With Shanghai down almost 9% last night I would think that all the other Asian markets would have been down harder. Watch out tonight. If nothing significant going on I think it might be over. Right now I'm not feeling the panic yet.

Anyone else got anything?
