350Z -- Newbie here -- You say it's not a good idea to go into the I fund today. But if the price is falling, isn't that the time to buy? Of course, if it hasn't hit the bottom yet, then one would have to ride it out until it climbed above whatever tonights close (purchase point). What am I missing here? I went 25% into I yesterday -- I wish I had waited until this morning. TIA for the help.

Yes, you want to buy when prices are falling, but I was strictly talking about avoiding the I fund for tomorrow, for reasons I mentioned in my last post to Greg. If the market rebounds tomorrow, the I fund's gain could be limited by the dollar and the Nikkei selling off tonight. Btw, I went to th S fund.

Just for reference. Selling goes in waves of days. Example: 3, 5 and 7 days of selling. The 4th and 6th day are usually up days. What we are seeing is the big boys taking it down and shaking it out. When the public starts selling then it will go back up.

Look at the 50, 100 and 200 day moving averages to look for support.

I decided to wait this one out ( ie, 100% G-Fund ) until this landslide is over. Yesterday and the day before were enough for me!

According to Bloomberg, the 11:30am value was roughly -1.86%, and we've not moved much from that. Unless something major happens in the next couple of hours to trigger an fv, I would imagine we'll be staying at about a -$.46 change to the I-Fund.

Here's hoping those who predict the dollar will counterbalance a rally tomorrow are wrong :) I'm in the I-fund for the long haul.

Down -2.06% or -51 cents.

EAFE Final: -2.08% or -51 cents.

Since you're a rookie, I'll go easy on you. The MSCI site is where we get the actual I fund closing price, baring a FV.

Nope.

I think I can loose a LOT more money that you can!

Just please don't ask me to prove it!

In my case ignorance is bliss. I’m not educated enough to know how bad this is and if it will get better or worse.

I’m just going to ride this out, but if we get another day like this, I may have to pull out and lick my wounds. :worried:

Appreciate it :)

According to Chemeng's spreadsheet, though, things still haven't changed enough for an fv. The Dow's losses have touched 400 points so far, so at this point I think I'll take the -2.08%.

350Z is going to smack your hand with a ruler this time rookie. :worried:
