12%ayear's Account Talk

I have a feeling we will sell-off this afternoon causing a -fv, in the I Fund. With the Terrorist talk going on. Profit-taking time for MMs.(money managers) I think you will see a triple digit loss today!!!

With the Dow currently up 40+, that is a bold prediction 12%. I'd be quite impressed if you were right.

12%... I wouldn't wish ANYONE bad luck here on TSPTalk, but for this one time, I hope you are wrong and today closes in the GREEN!!! I'm following Ebb out of the market for tomorrow. There have been too many times in the past when I have NOT followed the Ebbtracker and have been sorry. Good luck to all!!! :cheesy:

And... your avatar does not inspire confidence or trust. (evil clown on bike) makes me what to wish you are wrong.:worried::D

running for cover ( I just know I'm going to have a nightmare tonight:))

M.

someone who couldn't get through the first 30 pages of Stephan King's IT without throwing the book behind others on the bookshelf. It's the only book I never finished:embarrest:

No, I never wish bad luck upon anyone. If you notice I am in the S fUND TODAY.

40 minutes to go. I was wrong today, thought we would sell-off. However;on the bright side, the S Fund is green. Also tomorrow, we will benefit from this. FTSE-.58,DAX-.83,NIKKEI-.12,and CAC -.43. All closed red. As far as fv on the I Fund, I doubt it. The yen is getting whacked -.39. I do not see Barclay giving a fv today. We will get a nice pop tomorrow in the I Fund.

12%... It wasn't a total bust, the S fund made a penny! LOL!!! ;)
Hey, we were in the winning fund lol... I think the closeout for the S fund will be even, no payout. The sell-off started a tad too late. I rather make the money than a loss. However;I did think we would tank, today with all the cheerleading about 14000. Tonight will be good for the OSMs.Looking to lock profits tomorrow and go into the G for the penny. A penny earned is a penny saved!!! Btw ...for you Navyman
..........USNAVYRETIRED!!!!

12%!

According to Jayhawler's TSPLookup, the S fund was up $.01 for the day! Like you said, we were in the ONLY winning fund. I bailed out to the G fund for tomorrow. I've been doing pretty good lately and I don't want to give any back!!!

That penny makes me feel so much more comfortable (warm & fuzzy) with my TSP balance just before going into retirement.

44 DAYS!

We have 3 people retiring this year, so I pose the question:
Which are you doing?
a) taking a one time payment from TSP
b) purchasing an annuity
c) part a&b
d) none of the above / none of your business

This seems to be a serious debate at the office with the pros/cons. just thought I'd enquire, because, "Enquiring minds want to know!"

I am retiring in less than one year, and as of right now, I am going to take equal monthly payments roughly equal to the interest it produces based on the L income fund. An annuity is out of the quesiton for me. You lose total control of your money.

annuities are a total scam. They controlon your money and you get screwed in the end. The best thing to do is managed it yourself.

Frixxxx... You forgot, e) do nothing and leave it in the TSP so I can continue to move some of it around and try to get more than the 5% in the G fund.
I am NOT purchasing an annuity. (They are betting you're going to die soon and you're betting you're not.) I'm going to LIVE!!!
I may move some out to an IRA if I can find something that has a safe harbor like the G fund but I can still control the funds the way I want to and the fees are reasonable.
I've been thinking about this a lot and not just for myself, but for my survivors after the inevetable happens. There are a lot of options even after you are retired. 44 days from now I'll have pleanty of do some research and find out all I can. You don't HAVE to do anything right away. :cheesy:

Although the markets opened up down, I would not be surpised to see buying come in. The I Fund is currently down.70%. Today would be a great day to bounce back and hit a+fv this afternoon. Patience and guts!!
